I'm a barman, and I'll play before I start work and usually when im winding down with a drink after. I'll keep my eye on the machine and whose playing it, although I wouldn't go as far as Cros!

There's this one guy comes in - hes actually very pleasant,. always tips me etc. - but he always plays the machine with very little nouse. His main problem is that without fail, he'll bottle it the minute the cash hits £2.40 and he knows he's got three quid. I know what he's going to do every single time. Or he'll get into the middle trail where you can't lose until youre thrown out, yet he'll collect his first shot at the middle, which is inevitably 2 cash shots or some such pab. He proceeds to drain every bit of value from the machine - three or four quid in, three out, four quid in, three out, fiver in, 3 out, 2 quid in, 3 out, etc etc...

Edited by Mod: Why are you so intent on making people hate you? Leave well standing members of the board alone, and if you contribute 'sensibly', your comments may be more accepted. Calling established members C***s and F****s ain't gonna get you far...

i understand keeping an eye on it throughout the night, but turning it off purposfully for your own gain is just wrong. i like a good win like everyone else, but doing it like that is poor. you must need the extra money if your a fulltime barman

Yes Max, i'm 19 years old, and earning a very good keep from both the fruits and being a barman, going travelling next year so can't afford to be in a job that I can't just get up and leave from, not being funny, you don't know me so don't think you have the right to comment on my life pal.

Know what you mean rocket!

I have to get to the bowl at a certain time to beat a guy like that to my machines i play. He plays them out whatever their stage, usually resulting in a loss for him. He usually leaves them fairly dead though which annoys me. Get there first, problem solved! :D

If I was a barman and had say for example an unchipped extreme a red and I seen someone lose in both and say it was redding and £4 starting no matter how far in the shift I would just put up out of order notices if I could.

In this game its survival of the fittest and im out to win and the only people who are gonna stop me are better players or just other people who flatten them.

Sounds harsh but money is money and its my livelyhood at the minuite, those out drinking playing the machines obvioulsy have money to burn unless they are pathetic addicts with no clue.

no offence intended here mate but some of that sounds a bit erm....

well......... your effectively saying that people who work dont deserve to win as much as you because you have no other form of income?!

I would argue the opposite, might not be popular to say but those who put their wages into machines have most probabaly worked harder for that cash than a chap who plays machines all day.

if it is truely survival of the fittest then surely those folk are the people who play purely for beer tokens and extravagancies, not just to put bread on their table?

like i said no offence intended and i hope non's taken.

In a busy town centre pub i'd say fair play but when it's a local type pub then i'd think it's out of order. Just like how some people go out for a pint and a game of pool others go out for a pint and a bash on the fruity. It also doesn't take long for word to spread either. Take this E.G
Going back years now, My local had a IJ1. everyone played it, some for the force, some just for a play, anyway after a few months a new landlord took over. Many a time you would go in and he was on it. If he wasn't on it there would be credits in and money in the bank and it would stay like that till he was free to get back on it. We all soon realised he was emptying it so what happens? Nobody touched it. It was soon changed after that.

Learned to accept the lurking staff as the norm lately, in one pub i go into (probably due to be barred anytime soon), the landlord and son are always playing the fruitie (wobbler).

When i entered the pub recently, the son dives onto the machine (good sign that it's due, he sees me as "the enemy" and wants every jpot), lost arond £20 at a guess and then shouts "Hey dad, its ready to drop), landlord plays and collects around a fiver, leaves machine and proceeds to tell everyone that he took a fiver just now and dropped it last night (for my ears).

Funny thing was, only cost me £6 for £25 jpot and test for afters, would have cost a lot more if they hadn't filled it, sometimes lurking staff has advantages.

In general I just go into the pubs before lurkers and strike first, best way to be imo.
