The cheek of it

Post by Mr McStreak »

I've recently upgraded my phone, and have been charged £9.99 this month for an insurance policy I didn't know I had, and certainly never agreed to.

Needless to say I both puzzled and angry about this, I mean what right to fonesure have to start a policy without informing me?

Cheeky C**ts.

I've never bothered with phone insurance, as I have never lost my phone, and see it as a waste of money.

Anyone else had a similar thing happen to them?

i agree, they are cheeky coots. whilst have have not been conned into phone insurance, vodafone have tried reasonably hard to sucker me in.

every time i have had contact with them they have tried to tap me up by trying to scare me by saying it would cost me like 250 quid to replace my phone (nokia 5800) when i could just walk into CEX and pick one up for about a 1'er i reckon.their phone insurance is dearer than what i'm paying for 15 grands worth of contents on my flat........lmfao sideways.

i also reckon my home insurance would cover me anyhow, and while on the subject of home insurance.....lloyds bank refuse to miss an opportunity to manipulate a conversation with them onto the topic of their insurance .

they have tried umpteen times to sell me a policy that that is dearer and has less cover than the one provided by the council who i rent from, but they still try and say theirs is better ............twats!

The phone insurance policies I've seen have always been pointless, the excesses are usually so high (£100) plus sizeable monthly payments that it's like paying for two contracts instead of one. You're basically saying you're going to lose over one phone per contract term is what it boils down to, absolute gash. Unless you have a penchant for flushing i-phones down the loo, forget it and even then they'd wriggle out of it.

Lloyds bank offer one of those stupid insurances as part of their pathetic silver/gold/platinum upgrades, which I once stupidly signed up to (three months free), realised how useless most of the stuff was (I already have free travel insurance) forgot to cancel it, ended up paying £20 a month for a couple of months before I noticed.....grrrrrrr........twats

I was once humorously told "I was a rude customer" simply for refusing to even look at the insurance brochure at phones4u the woman even had to tell her supervisor that she made an attempt to sell the insurance but I brushed it off completely.

It's the only way they actually make money. I read somewhere that an iphone has to be sold on a 2month contract because it takes about 17months before they actually profit off a customer.

I already had insurance with my business account FFS!
