100w subwoofer

Post by JG »

Ok, I've got a 100watt subwoofer. It connects to the digital OUT thingymy in the back of my computer.

Not a peep, not a boom, not a squeak.

Some sort of Realtek audio thingymy.

Apparently the thing works, so any clues?

I'm no expert but try Control Panel, Sounds Speeches and Audio, Sounds And Audio Devices, Hardware. Select your output and Troubleshoot.

DON'T. Your reltek on board sound is only developed for 2.1 speakers.....
A 100 " sub will blow your on board sound proccessor and more than likely take out your usb ports, and any fancy rear loading teck you have... That kind of power needs a dedicated 5.1-7.1 card, independant and loaded just below the earthnet card in ure tower.......

If its run via amplifire, make sure you miss out the BLACK LEAD when conecting the tri input to the pc,, as that will cause feed back and smoke ure entire mother board ......As well as make you require a change of soiled underwear......

Woah, woah, woah. I've foodled. No such word as foodled. Let me start all over. I've been faffing around with the Realtek board device driver. It seems to support 2.1,5.1 and 7.1 with a few variations, but all those configurations need to be plugged into the back of the system. From what I can make out there is a rear audio card for those configuartions. There is also a front audio card which is 2.1 only and you can plug microphones in for games so you can shout "STAB TWIST KILL" and you can do those actions in the games from voice alone. I don't use that ever. I currently run my little 5watt RMS desktop speakers off the rear audio from one line output.

Now this is a Jamo 100w active subwoofer. By active I mean it has its own in built amp/volume control, I just need the signal from the computer. There is what looks like a co-axial cable. It is black (uh-oh) and it plugs into the digital out.....

Ok I've just been a cock. That digital out is for the GRAPHICS card, christ knows what it is for, but it is nothing to do with sound as it is no where near the rear Realtek sound card.

So I have this big active subwoofer, with what looks like a black cable with a male end that plugs INTO something on both ends. NOT a 3.5mm jack needed for the soundcard.

So connection problems. I want to get a signal from my soundcard into the subwoofer to get it to go BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOOOM!

Is there a widget that'll convert that 3.5mm jack output to the other output/input that I describe that has a big metal sticky in bit........

I could pop down Maplins on Tuesday, but I want answers NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW now. Please. Please. Thankyou.

If there's no widget then my mate can have the subwoofer back as I cannot use it.

I can't see that Harry, something to do with my Shockwave player.

Also maybe that Digital OUT is linked to sound card, there is an option to mute it from the Realtek sound manager application.

What is this tri input you speak of jpfuk? It sounds like what I need.
