Ah yes. Probably the most-oft asked question on Millionaire was

"Who was the lead singer of Chumbawumba"..

A) Danbert Nobacon
B) Damien Allbran
C) Denzil Noidea
D) Something else quite amusing...

Anyway, I'm going to guess the KLF.

Nope and nope I'm afraid. The song in question was the band's biggest hit, charting at number 9 in January 1993. You're both kind of in the right sort of area though.

Oooh... pretty close, and there is a direct connection to this band from Carter. To do with how they (the band) got their name.

Well Carter USM were named after one of the band members, so I'm presuming that this band are the same.

Mike Flower's Pop?

(I realise it only has 3 words in it, but they might have had a fuller title)

You're on the wrong track. They were named after a phrase in an article in the NME about the band Carter evolved from, Jamie Wednesday.

Ex-members of this band also formed The Wonder Stuff.

WAs it the ones who did Size of a Cow (or what the Wonderstuff?).

Or was that EMF?

Either way, I don't know, as they don't have 4 words in their name.

EDITED TO SAY: just cheated and looked up the answer. It was on the tip of my tongue, but cheaters never prosper.

Size of a Cow was indeed The Wonder Stuff. Malcolm Treece and Miles Hunt formed TWS after leaving this band.

This should give it away: This band were once accused of selling more t-shirts than records.

EDIT: That is not the behavior we expect from a man of the cloth. ;)

CR EDIT: Probably not. But if you think that's bad, Pope Leo XIV was once caught rodding a "Never mind the Jackpots" machine.

Miles Hunt used to be in Pop Will Eat Itself, clues eventually led me there... :D

Hooray!

The single 'Get the Girl! Kill the Baddies!' registered as Pop Will Eat Itself's biggest hit in January 1993. By this point, RCA had already grown tired of PWEI's stubborness and dropped them before the single was even released (the song went on to peak at 9 in the UK singles chart). Because of this, the band became the first ever to perform on Top of the Pops without being on a record label.

A staggering number of T-shirts endorsing the band have been produced. Of approximately 100 designs available, the best known is probably one which subverts the familiar "PEPSI" cola logo by replacing the legend "PEPSI" with "PWEI" and the phrase "Sample It, Loop It, Fuck It, Eat It" encircling the design.
