That’s effort enough.

He was the bloke in the crows nest in the Pinta (one of the three ships on Columbus’ voyage), he was the first to see land - an island in the Bahamas. Columbus himself was aboard the Santa Maria - the first boat to shore. Needless to say CC took all the credit.
