2008 is a leap year, so was 1712.
what was unusual about 1712 in sweden?

They changed from a Julian calendar to a Gregorian one so they put extra days in 1712 to bring the date into line properly

I presume they would have done the normal leap year of 29th Feb plus an additional day on the 30th of Feb?

yep it is the only time anywhere has had an actual 30 february. it snowed that day.
