Which author "predicted" the size and orbit of Mar's moon, more than 150 years before they were officially discovered?

Well, being the total geek I sometimes am, I recall Phobos being discovered in 1877. That makes this author before 1727. Er.
Utter guess here, but Jonathan Swift? Sounds like something he might have written in Gulliver's Travels, although I've not read it for years. And I'm not even too sure that he's the right time either!

The only 18th-century author I could remember.
Okay, sticking with authors, which author did Edward III (of England) grant "a gallon of wine daily for the rest of his life"?
(Must have helped any writers block he had
)

Yep, once you remember when Edward III reigned, the choices are fairly minimal.
Over to you UP.

No need to apologise. It's my own fault for not knowing the countries of origin of famous transvestites / transsexuals.
Thing is, I can remember hearing about it at the time, but can't remember.
Er... Jordan?

Sorry, I cheated. Looked it up on Wikipedia, and it says that she was born in Israel.
Are you mistaken, they mistaken, or are you trying to pull a fast one?
