A nice guess (darcle), but it's not right.

I'll give you another clue...

The phrase "Jumping the shark" refers to a specific episode in Happy Days when the Fonz was waterskiing, and jumped over a shark.

And nope!

It's actually refered to quite a lot on American telly such as Family Guy and The Simpsons ... two more shows that have, in my opinion, "Jumped the shark". See also Friends, The Two Ronnies, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Tony Blair etc....

Bingo!

Jumping the shark means that a show has reached the point where its past its best. This phrase came about from Happy Days, where the Fonz jumped over a shark on waterskis, and it became obvious that the show was now past its best.

It still went on for another 100-odd episodes though!

Right, UP let's hear it.

What a rush!

Cheers UP... here comes a gambling question...

According to the Gaming Act, Why is it legal to play billiards or arrers "for small stakes" in a pub, but not for gambling on horses or playing cards?

Bit of a crap question, but it does have to do with skills.

Games of skill are allowed to be gambled on, games of luck aren't.

There was a court case sometime ago where somebody was called upon in court to prove that arrers is a game of skill rather than luck. Good job it wasn't Gran who was called forth to demonstrate this.

Back to you UP!

Some time ago indeed: "In 1908, Jim Garside, the landlord of the Adelphi Inn, Leeds, England was called before the local magistrates to answer the charge that he had allowed betting on a game of chance, darts, on his premises. Garside asked for the assistance of local champion William "Bigfoot" Anakin who attended as a witness and demonstrated that he could hit any number on the board nominated by the court. Garside was discharged as the magistrates found darts, indeed, to be a game of skill."
