Cheers Rob...
Esquivalience is a word which doesn't exist, yet appeared in the 2005 version of the New Oxford American Dictionary.
So why did the publishers include this made-up word, and for a bonus point, can anyone guess what it might mean?

is it the same reason why WU original list had LBW?
(i.e. to be easily identifiable within rival wordlists if they had replicated without authorisation)
i believe these things are known as philip colombos
nobody ever wins on those things.

Yes, pretty much it... it's to see if anyone copies your definition of the word. The makers of Trivial Pursuit did the same thing with a question about Columbo's first name (which was never actually revealed).
Esquivalience is defined as "the wilful avoidance of one's official responsibilities".

That's a place name in New Zealand innit?
Or maybe not.
I'll guess Kate Bush, just cos I was watching Alan Partridge sing a medley of her songs on YouTube.

Had a quick cheat and looked up Wikipedia.
Is there maybe 2 answers? I certainly wouldn't have got either right.

Ah. The Wiki article mentioned something about Dr Alban, but it didn't mention a song.
I'll give it a shot...
We know what Russian Roulette is, but can anyone tell me what Polish Roulette is?

is it something like playing russian roulette with an automatic weapon (ie fires every time instead of one in 6)?

That's exactly it!
There's been a couple of occasions where people have tried to play Russian Roulette with semi-automatic weapons... needless to say, they were awarded a Darwin Award.
