Hmmm, interesting, I didn't know that. That's strange. Not the answer I'm looking for though. ;)

Paley describes a hypothetical instance of him finding one of these objects on the path as he takes a walk. His choice of object also inspired the title of a book by Richard Dawkins.

Fugacity is the phenonmenon that explains the water evaporating without ever reaching boiling point (thanks to ITV's QuizCall for that one).

But as for this, I'm going to guess...

4 leaf clover.

Which is quite obviously bollocks, but a good starting point.

Nope. The object in question is mechanical, and enabled the world to be mapped reasonably accurately.

Nope. But you need one of these to be able to use a sextant properly.

You probably have a slimmer, more advanced, possibly battery powered one on your wrist.

Close enough, a pocket watch. Damn, I thought that was quite an easy question. Must stop browsing Wikipedia at lunch and start playing HL2 again. ;)

The basics of Paley's argument, which has been bastardised into the whole mad American "Intelligent Design" theory, is this: Out for a walk one day, he finds a watch on the heath. On observing the complexity of the watch, he deduces that it has a designer. He considers the eye to be as complex as the wacth, implying that the eye too had a designer, IE God. The "Watchmaker" from which Richard Dawkins got the title for his revival of Darwin, The Blind Watchmaker.

This argument has been annihilated in so many ways I could fill screens with it, so I won't. Over to you UP. ;)

EU regulations which state that the food has to contain the food mentioned in the name, i.e. dragon?.

Same thing happened to Iron Brew decades ago, hence it was changed to Irn Bru.
