Rob Bob's logic nets him the prize. Benjamin it is. Not massively imaginative naming from Stan Lee (or Jack Kirby, depending on who you believe), but there you go...

sorry for the wait :o ops:

Which of TVs 'young ones' had a top ten solo hit in 1984 and what was the name of the song?

Sticks in my head that one for some reason. ;)

Time to sort out the fellow TV geeks amongst you: How was the original sound of the Doctor's TARDIS appearing and disappearing created? Bonus points if you know the official spelling of the sound effect (used in the comic strip, etc).

Using a Zyther?

Is it a theremin or something similar.

Nope. It does involve a musical instrument, but not in the normal way you'd expect.

Hmm, there's a few instruments out there, and probably a few inventive ways to play them!!

How about a trumpet played by a monkey using his toes?

Now you're just guessing wildly. ;)

The instrument in question is a piano.

Yes, that was a wild one, sorry.

Is a bow used to play the strings inside the piano as a performer would do on a standard stringed instrument?

Verrry close...

In fact, I'll give it to you. The BBC Radiophonic Workshop created the sound by scraping the strings of a piano (with a pair of keys apparantly, although that's not certain) and slowing down the recording.

The aliterative word used in the comic strip is "vworp", which, to my mind at least, sounds absolutely nothing like the actual noise. ;)

Over to you Stu.

Thanks Weyland.

How many squares are visible on a Rubik's Cube??

Posted: Sun Jun 24, 2007 8:18 pm
by Weyland
Is it as simple as 9 * 6 == 54? Or do the corners count as one square, not three?

I'm going to say 27. My logic being that as it's a cube, and hence 3D, only three sides would be 'visible' at any one time?

:)
