Just got a new machine in my local (Cash attack by Bacrest), as I was about to put a note in, I noticed a sticker saying 'Please note, minimum credit £5'.

Sadly I noticed this after I'd put the note in, but seriously, minimum £5 play? Are they making THAT little profit they have to resort to that?

A lot of new stuff is coming out with £5 minimum transfers on although it does seem prolific on CA's.

Just another nail in the coffin as far as gameplay and the general punters are concerned. [/quote]

It's an operators choice. Gamestec have taken a few from £5 down to £2 here again.....hopefully they'll soon realise that £5 just ain't the way to go.

There's a couple near me like this. I didn't notice at first and just wanted to get a few coins for the pool table. Stuck a fiver in to a QV (crap, I know) and then realised I had to get a board and collect something to get any of my fiver back! Ridiculous. Luckily I snared a red hi/lo cash thingy, that is almost always £8. :?

Its greedy, yet I think its there to combat, deter may be a better word, players from sacrificing £2 three or four times whilst on another machine for the £1's - £8 or £20 sacrificed?

Although you'd expect a board or two either way. :|

I'd say they're trying to deter people from using it as a change machine for pool tables e,t,c

I'd say that's what the £2 take was for. This looks more like trying get as much off the public as possible - another move that make Joe feel positively ripped off from his experience on fruit machines.

Hey - this pissed me off as well at first but then I thought about the flip side....

I rarely put notes in anyway and machines with a £5 transfer you will obviously just have enough coins on you or change money at the bar so this won't affect us.

But slotters are putting more money in than they mean to so maybe it's a good thing...

There's a lot of machines in the local services with the £5 stickers on but when you stick a note it only £2 is transferred, maybe they realised it was a bad idea so changed the settings :?

Heh, cheeky! ;)

Anyway, it does seem a complete ripoff. What sensible minded casual pub-goer wants to risk a fiver when they may not even know how to play the bloody machine? This is another of those cliche'd nails in the coffin. Stupid move, an absolutely stupid move. :( Casual players are wary of putting a quid in to a machine, let alone allow it to chomp a note!

Ha-ha! You'd 'win' £3 on a Red, and a little reciept would come out that you then have to go and exchange at the bar. But you need three valid forms of ID and have to sign a form that states if the machine appears to be £3 light when checked by an engineer they can put a cyanide tablet in your beer next time you're in!
