golden crowns mid 1980's

Post by fiskrond »

hi,
i'm trying to identify a fruitie from 1984/5
had a 9 position fruit grid on the right hand side - each line = 2 nudges
matching fruits and nudges could be gambled
possibly cash exchange for nudges (vice versa)
unlimited nudges possible, no autonudge

the most memorable feature that i recall is that the jackpot was
3 gold crowns,
all other symbols were fruits (maybe had £ also)

I'm sure it was called Triple Crowns or Golden Crowns or similar.
Had a mostly brown background.
Pretty sure it was a £1.50 jackpot. No tokens.

Strike a chord with anybody???[/u]

I remember this machine. It was made by MDM, and as you rightly say 3 Crowns gave you the jackpot of £1.50 which could hold once or twice if you were lucky.

Notice what is probably a PCP Cash Attraction to the right.

Enjoy :)

Think it just before exchanges unlimited. It was 10p/£2 JP (then upgraded to £3). One of the last to have the metal slots. The static reset trick worked very well on these. Didn't have GAIN on so you could try and nudge in difficult to get symbols with the hope of a "feature held" next game. Just about the only machine I ever emptied !
Roulette free since December 2011.

Bah! I knew it was something like that but I couldn't remember the name. Last time I played one of those was at Alton Towers about 16 years back. They had some PCP Henry the Hound machines too that were a clone of Blue Streak. The top glass was on Ebay recently - I almost went for it. There was an Electrocoin Pennies from Heaven top glass too, and some other stuff. The seller was from Great Yarmouth - you could have had a stab at those yourself and collected in person :)

Spot on sir..that's the one!
This is the machine responsible for my slimness as an early teenager - many a lunchtime things went catastrophically wrong and I went hungry!!
I gotta find the emu for it now :D

Happy new year to you too :)

The Golden Crowns was in Wells-Next-To-Sea. Was quite a while back now, around 2003/4 at a guess. It didn't work but Cashino Royale did. Amazed there's no roms for CR about, was a great machine!

They were in a cafe of all places.

You can see the GC cab on your left :D

Do you mean the cafe inside one of the arcades? They had a JPM Intrigue in that cafe for a time as well. Long gone now though :(
