Thought you might like to hear this story from 3 years ago here in Jersey:

The old style Ladbrokes FO machines, think the first ones in, they had roulette, etc but also a bingo game.

Turns out I was playing this game, has 49 numbers and you can place bets on what happens, such as what numbers will be picked, total of numbers etc.

One bet was to bet on the range of the total of the numbers, went something like this:

Total: 1-49: Pays evens
Total 50-60: Pays 5/1
Over 60 pays Evens

However I discovered the game was paying 2/1 for the low bet, so you could cover the bet and worst outcome was you got your money back! Anyway I managed to win £10k in the space of 4 days before I was rumbled, silly really, anyway not long after the machines where removed from Jersey as they contravined gambling laws here! I could of got more money out I supppose but Jersey is a very small island. I know this game was available in the UK mainland for a while but the machines were updated by the time I found this out! Otherwise I would have taken 2 weeks off touring around the UK!

 I'm guessing you're probably wrong about the odds too.

If that were the case (and the actual odds of the lower range coming in was evens) then you'd make a killing in no time, you'd have a 33% edge(-house edge) over the machine. Betting on that only all day you'd win thousands.

if thats true; you must be the thickestman alive?! what was so pressing in Jersey that prevented you going to the mainland and doing the same there, and telling everyone you knew to go and do it, for a small cut of their profits?! Smashing one machine for 10k is a pretty dumb idea too!

In the UK at the time they had changed the games and this did not exist, also I went round a number of ladbrokes over here, its a small island and not unusual to see staff rotate between branches, so very difficult!
