12 Months with my OPEN machine !!

Well its been nearly 12 months since I purchased the OPEN machine for the pub........here are my thoughts.

Its been a great money earner - paid for itself many times over........

It still gets played regularly - which is a good sign.

The updates have arrived on time from Fatspanner as promised.

Only been faulty once - apart from the Pub Quiz glitch which froze the machine whenever it was played but this was sorted out in the last update last Feb.

The menu system is still bloody crazy - I have lost Rocket Ronnie and can't get it back whatever I play - myself and nobody else can arsed creating an account and saving games and using pin numbers just to access our fave games - the daft thing is before it dissappeared it was in the list of top 10 games..........madness!! Just lets have ALL the games accessible from the front screen please.

By the way the last top 10 was..........

1. Pubquiz 13%
2. DOND Big Reds 7%
3. Head Up Poker 7%
4. Family Guy 6%
5. Golden Boot 2 5%
6. Fantasy Football (this game so needs an 09 update asap!)
7. Rocket Money (surprisingly this has disappeared off the main menu screen and I can't find it in similar games whatever I choose)
8. Hex Maniac
9. True Skill Bingo
10 Prize Pyramids

this was 2 weeks ago........

Overall very pleased - but PLEASE CHANGE THE MENU !!

I'm glad it's been successful for you. Hopefully this will help to "stop the rot" in terms of machines disappearing!

As a minimum whoever makes these machines should provide a listing of the 'linked games' so that legitimate site managers can ensure that they can retrieve their punters' favourite games if they have dropped off the main lists.

Better still, some form of login system to enable site managers to actively select ANY of the available games to appear on the front page.

Better still, a simple to use menu system to enable ANYONE playing the machine to call up their favourite games.

It's hardly rocket science is it?

Which reminds me - what do rocket scientists say when discussing something that is comparatively easy to achieve?

I can't see why they have made the menu system on these so complicated? Surely average Joe with a pint in one hand and a shiny 50p/£1 in the other is not going to want to get involved in all this rigmarole?

there should be a button that says a-z listing - simple as that for people who know what they want to play (with no sub division as there are crossovers)

Agreed - that's the only button I use on those touch-screen Jukeboxes... ;)

Update CD is due in 4 weeks time..........no idea of games yet.

Hopefully it will sort out the menu system as well.....

I believe the OPEN black has a different menu system - has anybody seen one and can explain it to me?

I can see EVERY game that is on the machine via a managers screen but I cant select which ones for the front screen - but I can de-select a particular game if its crashing etc.

I may indeed post a BOTTOM 10 of games on the machine tomorrow - asi'm sure some games have NEVER been played even once......

I think I played on an open black at the weekend.
Very small screen compared to paragons, there was about half a dozen or so large icons for games in the centre then some very small thumbnails for other games across the bottom. You had to touch an icon then press either play or info button.
Will there have been more games on it or just the ones on screen as I could see no way of brining any other games up, and the ones that where on it didn't seem that appealing.

Previously used for the FatBox SLIM, The FatBox INDE and the O·P·E·N terminals, the new O·P·E·N BLACK sports completely new front door mouldings and gives the cabinet a fresh and stylish look.

O·P·E·N BLACK also has a new game menu with bigger thumbnails, new features and additional option settings.

The release of O·P·E·N BLACK reinforces FatSpanner’s pledge to support and enhance their product range through ongoing improvements and innovations.
Dave,
The reputation of the Fruitchat elite makes me believe if they went on a jolly boys outing to your pub, between them, your machine would be well and truly done. Between them I think that they could cover all the game types - Word, Hand/eye Skill, Questions
So:

1) At what point would you turn it off, because you were sick of paying IOUs?
2) What would the menu do? "If you liked these, you also might like to empty these.."

I have to admit that I rarely see Fatspanner boxes, and the ones that I have seen were all running INDIE menus.

Hi

I don't have a note changer on my OPEN.

I don't switch the machines off..............they are there for all to play - professional and casual players alike !

You are welcome one and all !

I think you would change your view if you saw some of the quiz related stuff recently, saying that some gaffers just aint bothered, and if there not getting a cut why would they care? you could'nt be blamed for plugging one when you see your 'holiday fund' as some gaffers like to put it walking out the door.
