Cops & Robbers

Hi Everyone

*Hi Doctor Nick*

Sorry, I can no longer say that without it sounding like a dodgy accent in my head. Anyhoo.

Cops & Robbers last night, two Millionaire keys in the bank, 5 swags leading to a whole One Pound as an option to collect and a total of 227 moves, yet no third key came and no more swags to increase the booty. Personally I thought a total of 227 moves to be rather impressive and should have led to a higher financial reward than a quid! Has anyone bettered 227 moves?

227 is good both in terms of achievement and patience.

afaiaa the highest score is 4xx but that was a protracted exercise in time-wasting.

In the Railway Tavern in Crouch End you'll find a 250, signed off as GOT BORED. I was still over 100 moves ahead of the policeman.

I was the perpetrator of that protracted exercise, as Istenem calls it, and the record was 472 moves. That said, it was a while ago and I'd be amazed if someone, somewhere (not necessarily on here) hadn't bettered it, although personally the next best I've seen was something like 305 (not by me). Some games do give out easier questions than others and that can enable one to build a very big lead. I've always collected well before then (and nearly always before 200 moves) since.

In my experience, if you don't get three keys by 70 moves or so, you won't at all, so if that's your aim you should collect by about 100. As for swag bags, it's quite rare but I have played games where it's given me enough swag bags to win £4 or so. Even they will run out eventually though - if you've done 50 moves or so without a swag bag, it's probably time to collect.

The game gets a lot of stick on here. I always pop a 50p in it in the hope of gaining ingress to Millionaire's Row, but rarely put more than 50p in it. I usually get £1 back if MR doesn't deliver.

It would certainly go in my All Time Top 10 worst games!

I am with Grecian on this as can quickly yield up the 3 keys and even if it doesnt you get your stake back 95% of the time.

i realise that i'm in a minority but i like it.

pros:
"come back you scaaaaandrel", "i'm innocent, it's just me washing", name checks for some forgotten fruitchatters, guaranteed doubling your money, scoreboard where you can leave messages (as GGDR notes), visually engaging.

cons:
can take forever.

and when you do get a machine where three keys are available millionaire's row gives you a real chance of a decent win for fair questions (8Qs for £20)

it ticks most of the boxes for me so i will always play it before a lot of other games.

Managed to bag a PB £15 on Millionaire's Row at lunch today, which got me wondering again whether Paragon have made things easier on CnR of late. Until the last question, each MR question was reasonably fair (one or two required educated guesswork / decent memory of the question bank, but they weren't out-and-out kippers).

Grecian you weren't in my local today were you- spotted a recent score on the high score board. Also someone else seems to have been leaving messages?
