DOND Quiz bug - surely not an emptier?

Was playing on a DOND quiz the other night (open a box, answer a few questions to continue, deal when you can). Wasn't an itbox, not sure what it was.
The whole machine was quite buggy - you couldn't access the 'more games' menu for example, just had to wait until they appeared in the main selection! So the attract loop was advertising games that couldn't be accessed.

Anyway, we were playing DOND and put £2-3 quid through without winning. After these games, the questions within each box didn't change. So, let's say you needed 4 correct questions to progress, you'd answer the first, then the next three would have the identical correct answer. The answer would appear as different options, but always the same.

Easy money we think, in our less-than-sober state. Unfortunately, the advantage is wiped out when the machine thinks to itself "they're rather good, I'll ask an impossible question". So after a few easy boxes of 4 identical questions, it asks:

What was Elvis Presley's army enrolment number?
A: 45871239
B: 53310761
C: 51470256
D: 94215563

...and we lost.

So has anyone else noticed this?

If I actually thought it was a possible emptier I'd not have posted it!

I've not noticed the bug (which sounds a good one) but the answer to your "spoiler" is B. It's been a quiz machine question for years (since the days of old Maygay standalones) and I wouldn't class it as a spoiler - I'd be reasonably confident I could get most digits right if this got asked without options.

The machine you were playing sounds like it might have been an "Open". It's talked about on various threads on here, back in the summer of 2007. I've not seen any since the couple I played around that time.

The machine with the varying games menus is indeed an Open. Most of the games on there are ones I've long since given up on but the interesting feature is that the games menu changes after each game you play, so if you have a particular favourite it's worth playing one game on a few other things to see if it appears. You then have the facility to 'save' your personal set of games, presumably by creating some sort of user account.

As for DOND, I haven't seen that happen but the obvious point to make is that it's hardly much of an emptier if the machine realises what is happening before you've actually won anything, is it?

Nil Satis' description of it being an 'Open' fits exactly, so I'm confident that's what it was.

I've evidently not spent enough money to recognise the 'classic' army id question yet.

As for it "realising what's happening", the only thing it realises is that you're getting a lot of questions right. It does nothing to close the loophole of having the same correct answer for 3 or 4 consecutive questions.

Essentially, you're getting 4 correct answers to a hard question for the price of one, rather than 4 easy(er) questions. I guess which situation you prefer depends on how good your Elvis trivia is!

I've been aware of it for a while and posted a cryptic message to that effect a month or so ago. I had a great night where I won three or four games on the bounce until it started wanting 99000 points!
It's a bit unpredictable though and hard to manipulate to your own ends as another glitch is it just swallowing your money when you qualify for the cash round.
