1. the games are costing more to play (that's entertainment etc)
YET
the prizes are getting smaller! (ELW etc)
One game that amazed me with its cheek was the new darts game, Legends or something. It has a £1 game but - as far as my experience - the prizes are the same! (50p) What a con. Bullseye's a bit like that now.
Then there's a new insane 3 question version of DOND where you can play for loads of different stakes.
2. That's Entertainment (sic)
Ok, I've had a couple of easy big wins but by my reckoning it's just a case of put a pound in a machine and you've got a one in three chance of doubling it. It's facile. mind you, it could be a trick by the manufacturers to keep good players on long games winning nothing - ie keeping them out of the way.

Legends of Darts is good. Only 50p prizes on each card but they soon add up with the easy q's

I've had enough of this game. I lost 3 quid on it today, without a sniff of a prize. So I decided to have one last go, pressed start, it took my money and sent me back to the main screen. OK that can happen with any game but this is badly programmed crap, with no target to aim for and countless typos (often fatal in this sort of game).

Don't touch it, and hope they get the hint and replace it with something playable.

I think with £1 games the answer is very much "it depends". With some it's really good to see a £1 game as they offer decent prizes with no hidden unfairnesses e.g. TIOLI.

Others offer decent prizes which seem to be far harder than the equivalent prize would be on a 50p game - the few times I've bothered with £1 play "new" DOND on the GamesNets I've found the endgame looks a lot less fair than the standard 50p game.

Others are just a total rip-off I reckon - e.g. £1 play on GamesNet Tetris. Its only benefit would appear to be offering a separate bank to the 50p game but it certainly doesn't look as if it pays out any more than the 50p game (not played it vastly much though).

I think £1 play may put off some punters as well. Even for a pro (e.g. when learning a game), the losses can amount fairly quickly on £1 a play, and I think that the average punter may be a bit nervous about that. We shall see.
