It's basically a mixture of Take It Or Leave It (10 questions in the initial game with no Passes or Try Agains, although there is a Free Answer bonus and there are varying numbers of answers as opposed to True or Falses) and 1 vs 100 (the end game, which is almost identical). It's good to look at but a bit dull and the selection of the question subjects seems to be random, rather than being based on the three icons you pick each time as is claimed in the Info section.

Overall, it's not bad and it's probably good for a few quid each time.

I spent an hour on this yesterday and found it pleasant enough though I didn't quite get to the endgame as I was just messing about (well, that's my excuse!)
What's the endgame like? Another rip off or is it fair?

Haven't played it yet, but I hope it's not as bad as the film!!!

Based on the couple of times I did it, I'd say it's fair to the extent that the 1 vs 100 end game is fair, i.e. you will probably "never" get either the low (< £2) or the high (>£5) prizes but are "guaranteed" something in between.

The reason for the quotes should hopefully be clear to those who have played 1 vs 100 regularly, although ironically I have won £10 on that one three times recently, including on my single most lucrative ItBox machine in years last night - it was a 54 version and all the decent games apart from Crossword Quiz and Won in 60 Seconds paid a decent prize to make up the largest total I have won on one machine since the glorious days of Dr Fox. Maybe I should vacate that comfy chair at the Home for Grumpy Semi-Retired Quiz Machine Players more often...

And two whole pounds for me! To be fair it's not a bad game.

but they can't spell gryphon.

as an aside (and this really belongs in the dodgy Qs thread) the panserbjørn asked me:

with which Christian festival are green holly and red berries connected:
easter
epiphany
Christmas

well it doesn't want the educated answer. go with the popular myth and you'll be okay. probably serves me right for trying to be a smart aleck.

but it is an okay game. better than the wordsearch nonsense.

Presuming they spelt it Griffin? Which is a correct, and more commonly accepted spelling of the word.

Maybe I was unlucky but I had my debut punt on a Golden Compass this morning and got more like thirty questions (failing on the last one so failing to get to the endgame) than the ten questions NS claims. It was very slow and very tedious - is there any way to get through that pleasant-looking but incredibly gimmicky subject selection mechanism? Anyway, I will play it again when I see it but on first view I wasn't overly impressed.

Reading back to my original post I realise I was a bit misleading - there are 10 'rounds' as opposed to 10 questions. On the first couple of goes I had at this it was something like 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3 in terms of the number of questions on each round but the last few times I have played it there have been a lot more than that, including two rounds of 4 the last time I played it.

As for the subject selection, I'd still say that it is random, both in terms of how the three symbols you pick leads to the fourth and what subject the fourth symbol actually gives you.

Overall this isn't the worst game out there but most of you should be able to find plenty more worthwhile things to play, including 1 vs 100 which this one resembles at the end.
