I remember a while back Hornby found a Caveman Capers where only one prize was available - a £1 at the far end of the points scale.

I found an X-Factor last night in a similar state. Only one prize available - £1 for getting the fifteen questions right. The wife reacted swiftly enough to take a photo with her 'phone and I'll post it later. Anyone seen that before? It suggests to me that someone had multiple jackpotted it as the last time I JPed an X-Factor it displayed a full prize grid next go.

As to who might have multiple jackpotted it, I noted from the Hell's Bells scoreboard that our good friend INCA had visited the site on Friday so I have my suspicions...

either grecian or nils satis was in southampton and noticed that the caveman capers only had a jackpot of £1 in yates some time ago. i checked it and indeed it was £1. as i have never seen it anywhere else if somebody was double jackpotting games you would think that there would be lot more like it. particularly interested in quizmasters opinion on the topic!

It wasn't me that saw the jaded Capers - I thought it was Hornby but maybe it was Nil Satis. Maybe you're right that if this was a double JP issue it would happen more frequently. As you say, the views of other regulars welcome.

it could just be the home pub of this maven.

e.g. the playhouse in colchester is never worth going to as it has a resident pro.

It was me and I have seen it a few times. NS also confirmed it having been sceptical originally.

The first one I saw in this state was in the 'Spoons in Victoria station

Saw quite a few of those Capers on quids only. Left a few in that condition after only one £20, two of them had only just become sites, so maybe it has something to do with the "newness" of the game. Probably more to do with how much the game had taken.

On a different matter i've never done too badly in the moons in colchester!!

Yeah you need a fair bit of ability to leave one in this state, although it's not always a Double JP that causes it. Looks like I've got some competiton out there - although I suspect it's London judging by Grecian's original post - and I don't bother with London due to our 2 pals.

I haven't yet seen this on X Factor or Hell's Bells. But, and there must be a connection, I once won £6 on a Caveman and it switched itself off! 'Unable to Play' it said.

Subsequently I saw several other examples of 'Unable to Play'. I assumed it was some sort of 'lockdown' level - this X Factor £1 thing must be something similar.

Thanks for the interesting responses. To answer QM's query, yes, this was London. In fact it's my local machine (and that of one other member of this board, I believe). That said, this certainly wasn't my doing, and I know the other member specialises in other games, so I doubt it was his either. This machine was utterly spent, by the way - the wife and I invested a tenner for about four quid return, which is about as bad as it gets for me on an ItBox (albeit we were having a few drinks and not playing *that* seriously).

Don't know if this is the same idea but I recently played crossword quiz. after skipping through the first round the game simply ended and went back to the menu screen. Very annoying.

Correct - and I thought my memory for such trivialities was scary! (unless you actually took the effort to read all my old rantings/posts!). The pub in question was in Southampton and it was the first time I had seen Caveman Capers in such a state. I have only ever seen it a couple of times like that since. Ironically the same night in the same pub was I think the only time when I have ever won the £20 on Deal or No Deal!

Not quite as blatantly 'dead' but just as sneaky is what happened to me at the weeked on a £1 a go Take It Or Leave It - there were no lives and I picked both Booby Prizes on the first go, which must be the quickest loss of a £1 ever (other than losing deliberately)!

Ah, the place that doesn't take coins?

It's not a well played machine for some reason, and INCA and HULLHULL have both been in there in the last few weeks.

I was there on Thursday but didn't touch any of your games.

Got the last question right for DOND ready to go onto cash round. All of a sudden my game disappears and INSERT COINS comes up on the screen! Hard to know what you could claim back from the bar if I coud be bothered. (I couldn't) All these trends are very worrying.
