Quiz Machine Noises

Does anyone remember the wonderful noise that would accompany a large payout on an old standalone machine (I think immediately of Top of the Pops c.1995-c.199

. Each pound would be shunted out with some considerable vigour. As each coin was given out individually the payout routine for the £10 was satisfyingly long drawn-out.
I would happily pay for an MP3 file consisting of this noise.

Personally I hated that noise - why would you want to bring attention to yourself if you happen to be in the sort of pub/arcade that objects to anyone winning anything on one of their machines?

You're far too self-conscious. I never thought about anyone else, merely the pleasure it brought to myself.
What sort of pubs did you frequent in those days, Nil?

I'm not saying by any means that every pub was like that but smaller local pubs would often take more of an 'interest' in your activities than say a Wetherspoons would do now. This interest wasn't even guaranteed to be negative but in some cases the landlord/landlady would object to anyone winning, as would arcade owners. I suppose now half the problem has been solved anyway by removing all the decent payers from the machines and replacing them with dross!
