Hello everyone i (we) are new here and play the itbox in the local pubs a lot with a varying degree of success.

We used to play Ant and Dec untill they took it away (never got far but easy enough for 2 quid or so)

Then we changed to deal or no deal which we have had great success on (well comparitively) winning 10 pounds 2 or 3 times and learning god knows how many of the questions (its Zog)

I do however (after a few) tend to play around on other games on the machine i havent tried some are in my opinion usueless (i hated that south park one) and some have become new players.

Currently we are playing Cluedo and sometimes take your pick.

Cluedo seems to be an easy one or 2 pounds and if we push we could take five.

What is (commonly regarded) as the best game to play.

Are we playing 'dud' games?

Any tips?

Cheers

ps. Its nice to see a Cambridge fan here!

Welcome to the board, Trev.

I'm not the best person to tell you about the most profitable machines, I'm happy if I can pay for my pint with quiz winnings. Take your Pick is defo a duff game, although strangely alluring. It is one of the few games out there where you could answer every question correctly and still win less money than you put

welcome, as His Eminence says it is horses for courses, regular posters on here don't agree on what are good or bad games (nor which are profitable or otherwise). crikey, some people even rate wwtbam.

if you get good at a game, it is worth getting good at one which is popular with less able punters so you can have some of their cash. so it is probably more worthwhile trying to learn dond than, say, alien attack. depends on your standpoint on the profitability/enjoyment scale.

but the undisputed king of games is word up (old version not grand masters). this is true.

Welcome - I'm the resident Exeter fan here... As UP says, there's no real consensus, but on a standard ItBox DOND is certainly one of the ones worth playing, probably the only one offering a realistically achieveable chance of £10 at the moment unless you're really lucky/good. For a good chance of £1-£2 with a chance of more I'd recommend 1 v. 100, Bullseye, Nuts, WWTBAM and Tetris. Read back through this forum and you'll get a pretty good idea what people are keen on. There's not much that you should definitely avoid at the moment on ItBox but avoid the one with the haunted house and the one where you have to collect three fruits from a grid. Personally I don't play much Cluedo, but I could be wrong.

This may sound like common sense, but as a general rule of thumb, play games that you regularly win on, and don't play games that you don't.

So you're fine playing SNT if you get a regular reward from it - don't expect jackpots - they are few and far between unless you're prepared to put a lot of work in.

If you can get between £2-£5 from Cluedo keep playing it.

If you run out of things you can't win on - play the ones you enjoy. I like Monkey Business as a diversion after a hard day's graft, but don't generally expect to win.
