I don't think this has been mentioned before.

PLayed this a few times whilst I was doing a brief tour of It-boxes (didn't think I'd ever say those words)...it is very similar to the TV show that is on at the moment.

You against 100 people. Every time you answer MCQ, a few (3-15ish) get eliminated. Eliminate everyone to get a shot at the Deal or No Dealesque end-game. You also get 2 passes (called dodges) and a "double question", which will knock out twice as many people as normal (regular visitors to this forum will not be surprised to learn that when you do select this bonus, it'll give you 3-4 eliminations normally).

Anyway, I don't think I encountered 1 spoiler whilst playing ... that's not to say I didn't get any questions wrong... it is similar to Millionaire, insofar as there are no try agains.

The end-game is a bit odd. 100 blank squares filled with 10 loads of 10 different prizes (25p-£20). You eliminate a square and it will eliminate all the other prizes of that value. Sometimes you get an option to bank, but when I turned it down I got a £10... other times, you proceed to the last boxes without any offers. Not quite sure why they don't just have 10 boxes in total, but I suppose it is called 100-1....

One thing I did notice was a possible Strike it Lucky-esque opportunity... the cash values all jumble before being hidden. If you looked out for the low cash values, then you could eliminate them and be left with the big sums. But then I came to my senses and realised that was never going to happen.

EDIT: What was a bit cack was the pretty tough questions pretty much off the bat on a few occasions. And for the fact it could be possible to win 25p (whilst never getting an offer). I'd be interested to know if this happens to anyone!

However, I'd give it 7 out of 10 (not least cos I never got one of the crappy prizes in all the end games I was in).

I've found it to be a bad game to be honest. Maybe there are no spoiler questions as such as you say, but there are plenty of spoiler eliminations that make getting to the end game (which i'v never done in 4 attempts) nigh on impossible. Another reason for me to stick with the AWPs! :x

Perhaps I should have mentioned the 8 quid that I donated to one 100-1 - before I eventually got to the end game and bagged a juicy 4 sheets.

The fact that you've no try again does make it a slightly different game - I got scuppered a couple of times by going for wrong one of 2 obvious answers.

But I don't recall ever feeling cheated at the fiendishly difficult questions - maybe I never made it to the real fiendlishly difficult questions.

A fair game I'd say. Being able to pick the subject (of two mixed choices) of your question every time is a nice idea. Means you can always avoid art and literature, albeit if that means answering one on music..

Best I've managed is 20ish people remianing, with average 'game over' around 50. I'm far from great though.

I like this one, I must admit. The format is reasonable and the questions are, I think, pretty fair: some spoilers but generally enough to cope with given wise use of the two bonuses. When it first came in I found I was reaching the endgame more often than not although I notice the difficulty level has crept up recently. The endgame itself is a bit of a disappointment though - I may be mistaken but I don't think that it is true skill i.e. where the numbers stop flashing is not where they really are. I've not managed to win more than £5 in about 20-30 endgame visits which is a bit disappointing (kudos to the Cardinal for his £10). Conversely, though, I've never won less than £2 once I've reached the endgame. The DOND-style buy out feature is pretty rare IMHO - probably only about two or three offers made in all those endgames. The focus on the £2-£3-£4-£5 prizes makes the endgame a bit tedious, but overall this is something I'd say I am running at an overall profit on.

Heh, easily the two worst topics on any quiz for me too...!

I've played this a few times and had mixed results. Did manage a £3 win after £4 in, so had 15 minutes of fun for a pound. Which is a rarity nowadays.

I also think the end game is not 'true skill' - much like the TV programme Strike It Lucky - It's simple to see where the final icons 'are' before the screens are blanked - but when they are revealed, they are rarely 'what they should be' if you catch my drift. Haven't we mentioned this before and it may have been a reason why the show had to change it's name from Strike it Rich to Strike it Lucky?

Anyway, back to 100-1. Not the worst game available, but I'm not going to go out of my way to play it...

100-1 is an eminently decent game, questions get hard but rarely unfair, and the endgame has decided how much you are going to win before all the smoke and mirrors of picking squares.
i like it. but then i like vanilla ice cream too and that is hardly exciting.

i'll always give it a go when i have exhausted the atm and diverting games but it is not going to make any top tens.

for the record, i find A&L a pretty easy category on the shaun wright-phillipses. films and music are where i'm a simpleton.

Won quite a few times when this first came out. £5 is my best. Seems a lot harder just recently and haven't been near the end game on my last few attempts.

oh, and Strike it Rich turned to Strike it Lucky (or was it the other way round?) cos they changed production companies, and the old one refused to allow them to use the name.

I'd certainly agree that the end game isn't true skill in that the last visible cash amount on a square is almost never the one that appears if you pick it, and even if it were you couldn't hope to see where one of each of all 10 of the amounts were, so you'd only ever be able to eliminate one or two of the low amounts using this method even if it were fair.

The thing with Strike it Lucky/Rich on the machines was that the last visible set of arrows, questions and Hot Spots WAS the one that you were then up against. As these games were out mainly before mobile phones with cameras became common, the trick was to get two (or more) of you to concentrate on the two halves of the set of ten moves. Being an antisocial sod, this was pretty much the only game where I've ever wanted any help or assistance - I usually find an extra brain/pair of eyes a hindrance on most things.

As for the 100-1 game, I'd concur with most of those here - it was originally good for a relatively easy £2 to £4 (never more and rarely less) but it has recently become a lot tighter, and spoilers are now starting to appear quite early on during some games. It's just lucky that there are so many great new games lining up to take its place...
