Bullseye prize board strategy?

Hello all,

First time poster here. I was wondering if there's any kind of strategy to getting money on the prize board on Bullseye? I can frequently get there but rarely come out with much more than £1.

Also a side question, looking through the messages there seems to be a consensus that Paragon machines don't pay out as much as other ones. Is there a consensus on which machine is the best payer?

Thanks.

Welcome. I think it's still the case that the £1 at the 7 o'clock position on Bullseye is true skill so, provided you keep answering questions correctly, you should win at least £1. What I try to do is aim at first for the non-true skill £1s, and once I've got one of them I then go and get the true skill £1. Doing it that way means I often get £2 and occasionally £3, but very rarely more (once I got the £5 by luck I recall). Generally I don't play the 50p gamble-up game on the newer variants as I think it's a bit random, although if you're darts are really good it's probably worth it.

I'm not sure I'd agree that that is the consensus - if it is I'm not sure I agree. A while back GamesNet was probably best and ItBox worst, but now I think they are all (including Paragon, GWHL, Fatbox etc.) much of a muchness. As for best games, I think it varies from player to player - the ones best going for are the ones with a reasonable shot of £2-£3 from a £1 investment, so that would include e.g. WWTBAM, Nuts, Trivia for Dummies, Ant and Dec, Big Match World Cup, Caveman Capers, DOND, Bullseye, 100 to 1, Trivia for Dummies and Pub Quiz to name a variety. None of them are *that* good though - except Big Match World Cup which is rare and takes a while to learn.

Thanks very much grecian. It looks like I've been wasting my time trying to go for the fiver on Bullseye all this time!

To be honest, until I found this board for the first time today, I hadn't even noticed that there were different machine manufacturers as I've simply been focussing on the game content.

I think you have. As I say, in hundreds of plays I've had it once. Much better off concentrating on hoovering up some of those £1s.

i personally do not think that is any skill whatsoever in the second section.
no strategy will yield better.just make sure you get through to the second section by learning the questions.

I usually go for whatever is in the 5 o clock position. when it is £2 or £3 it gives you it most of the time. When it is £4 it seems less likely. Generally if I havent got it the first couple of times and/or I've run out of try agains etc I will take the gimme £1. I have seen the £5 hit so its not impossible, just extremely unlikely.

i go for 11 o'clock which also skips to the £5 bullseye if some monumentally uckwitted punters have been on it before. as Grecian says it is rare but i've had it a dozen or so times.

it is a waste of time going for anything after you have hit £2 or more.

I go for the 11 o clock as well - I find it's usually £2, sometimes £4 - and I've probably just been lucky, but whenever its been £4 its been really keen to give it and I've usually hit it first or 2nd shot.

Good stuff - I think I'll go for a play on this at lunchtime and spin a few strategies - if UP has had £5 a dozen times I must be doing something wrong!

When Bullseye first appeared (not the bonus version), it was a fairly regular occurence to have the £4 at 11 0'clock, with a £5 bull - and it wasn't afraid to give you it now and then. My feeling is that aiming for any £1 on the board is skill, whereas for any higher amount it may give it, or may bounce off. Getting to the second board is a guaranteed min of £2 (assuming you can hit your bullseyes in the bonus). But then it's cost you 50p for the game, and another 50p for the bonus - so the extra £1 you win is effectively clearing what you've put in.

I was under the impression that Bullseye decides well before you get to the prize board how much it will pay out.

It's common to get £1 or £2. The other day I played on a machine in a hotel just south of London and Bully had a target of 201. One question was followed by Bully's Bonus and the £5 prize with my first dart. That's the only time I've hit it in hundreds of chances.

There are other times I've reached the prize board, hit £1 and then hit nothing with the rest of the darts (Is it 12 you get in total? I forget...)

Anyway, I don't think there is any random or skill element to the prize board. If it decides you're winning no more than £1 then tough.

Not sure if it's 12. Its a fair dod anyway.

I remember the days when this wily old cardinal used to use every dart in the end game, just to maximise his payout.
