It's called 'Cash for Questions'. It has a couple of things in common with None of the Above, which was I think the last new GWHL Q&A game:
- it has a theme of Politics
- it's TERRIBLE
It's one of those games that when you play it for the first time you think, "It can't be that bad surely; give it a decent chance so give it several plays in different pubs" only to then find it really is what you first thought.
The 'gimmick' here is that for each round you need to first fill in the letters of a question, where the answers are provided. This can be quite tricky as some of them are very long and/or obscure. The longer it takes to fill in the letters of the question, the more questions you then have to answer to complete that round. This ranges from 1 question in the first couple of rounds to 4/5 later on (but before you are actually playing for the money - the prize structure format is a clone of the one used in Pints Make Prizes). Once you lose a round, the 'party' you have chosen gets removed so your options are then reduced. Naturally the questions soon move into GWHL Spoiler Land.
The problem with a gimmick like this is that it's only interesting the first time you see it. After that it just gets to be an annoyance. It's like going for a meal in a restaurant only to be asked to cook the meal yourself before you can eat. It's inconceivable that punters will be attracted to a game like this and all I can foresee is it will be as 'popular' as None of the Above and will last about as long.
It's not all negative re the latest GWHL release, but I'll create a different thread for that one. As for Cash for Questions, the verdict is:
LOST DEPOSIT

Don't suppose I'm the first but had the pot on this today. First time I've won more than the £1. Admittedly any one of us reading this would have got it on that game but it was a nice free tenner.

Did you pot it with spoilers (if so how many?) or without?

No spoilers at all. Towards the end the questions became tricky but I'm fast enough on the first bit to mean there weren't that many. The final q was one about Scotland and anthrax.
