probably too geeky for most but I found it interesting a breakdown of the market in a geographical area within Hampshire. As has been the case for a while Games Warehouse dominate with few others making much of an impact. The Open conversions have definetly had an effect.
pubs 187
games warehouse 110 58%
gamesnet 35 18.7%
open/hotwire/dice 23 12.2%
games media 11 5.8%
inde's 3 1.6%
itbox 2 1.0% others 3 1.6%
and dont anybody DARE say the percentages dont add up exactly!

Very interesting - but one important stat missed as well - how many pubs with no machine?

these are sites in one area that I have known for years, not a survey of hundreds of sites with/without machines. There has, as in most other areas of the country a contraction in the number of pubs in surburban locations with change of use primarily to flats but I know of a pub that has become a vets whilst another is a chiropractic clinic. The areas that have fared best are the inner city sites where there is a clustering of large branded pubs as well as in the tourist locaties such as the south coast resorts and the New Forest. There has been a slow decline in the number of sites overall discounting the closed pubs.

Games Warehouse certainly dominate in pubs in Norfolk and Suffolk.
