No replies....interesting! 8)

I bumped into this bloke at the weekend in Yarmouth. He's from Grantham, bald on top, early 50s, and is a self confessed quiz pro. Having chatted to and watched him play and win a fair bit, i can quite believe his story, he was ridiculously bright. Nice fella, loads of stories, very willing to chat, and just an interesting bloke overall. He also said he came 3rd in an old national WWTBAM link up when they were around.

Anyone know any more? Or is he a secret pro scooting under the radar!

I haven't heard of the chap but then Grantham isn't really my patch, and its most famous daughter isn't exactly a favourite of mine either - I suppose I might stop boycotting it when she goes...

I also came 2nd or 3rd in one of those national WWTBAM tournaments a few years back, via a machine in Reading town centre. The odd thing was that it wasn't really that difficult to win a decent prize - from memory I won £100 for a score of 250,000, i.e. after failing on the second to last question. I am fast and I think that was how they decided the prizes if there was a tie but even so it was certainly one of the easiest £100s I've ever won!

A few years ago I bumped into a guy called Neil who said he was from Grantham. Non-descript guy 40-50 I would have guessed. I dont remember him being bald. He said he drifted around the country on bus and train staying in Travelodges and similar. Seemed a bit eccentric (a bit like I would imagine cool would be  ). Carried his stuff about in a plastic carrier bag lol.

my unusual training method involving interval training: running from pubs at high speed to parked car pursued by irate landlord appears to be paying dividends

Sounds right, he was off to Norwich Travelodge the day after. Very eccentric, but a nice bloke none the less.

probably mentionned it before but in Bournemouth met a guy who said he was a professional machine hunter and would 'sell' me pubs(in the BIC) in the days of cashgrids.

met a bloke a few weeks ago in Poole who was looking at me whilst he played the fruity.I said you are a pro fruity player and he said you are a pro quizzy player.Turned out he was a friend of the guy from Manchester that owned a pub in Parkstone . The fruity guy was his driver and helped out on SIR.Small World.

Didn't play a lot, but it was pretty good for what i did play. Slow dial had 2 out of, panther and ladders were both going, so about 80 up between those 3. Made a lot in vauxhall with key assistance too!
