Fruit Machine Chat

On Saturday went out with Bob and had my first experience of a machine paying out with a ticket that you present to the bar to get cash on Saturday.

Forget what the name of the machine was, but it was a blue plastic cabinet, not that tall, with space for a drink on top. It seemed rather light weight and wobbly (the machine not me) so I didn't trust it with my pint.

Had about 15 games on, the only ones I remember were STD Deluxe, Word Soup and Some game involving having to identify the objects in a crowded picture of lots of objects which passed the time for a couple of minutes before it decided to start being either ridiculously difficult or just plain cheating (depending if you could class a saucepan as something that didn't look like a saucepan etc)

Bar staff were very pleased to pay Bob his winnings, even engaging in a lot of banter, and looking happy to pay out. As it was the thicko arms I assume that a payout doesn't happen often.

(And notable that Isty hadn't been there yet - he does pop up in the most unlikely places...)

Sounds like an Indigo cabinet? Usually sited with juice fruit machines.

Loads of Juice or other video fruit machines in the pub (didn't stop to check) so sounds about right.

how much was the pay?

bearing in mind they'll remember you for being clever forever... anything more than about £4 or £5 will be suspicious

It was only £4.50 so nowt to right home about. It was £5 or £6 win on WU and then we played a couple of games of the find the object game.

Didn't play any of the quiz games, coz that's dangerously off Bobs speciality and he gets bored very quickly.

my only experiences of these ticket machines in pubs are the cabinets mentioned and the ones where games are categorised under Q&A, word, skill. a few quid from the SWP seems to have novelty value for the barstaff but one would imagine that AWP receipts for £70 are quite common.

went to a local pub recently and who had the high score on the Word Up,Istenem. He,or the machine has travelled a long way from base (on an INDE)
