I know this is a bit off the current trend of new machines, but do you remember the who wants to be a millionaire quiz 4 link with a prog jackpot of arounf the 1000 pound mark. I remember as a kid playing it with my dad, the best we did was 8 pound i think. anyway did anyone on here or know anyone who actually dropped it. my dad is very good at general knowledge but we always had to collect on the obscure questions

you mean the questions you couldnt answer?
I remember that too. quite a while ago and didn't like it personally, but then again I didn't like the franchise or Tarrent with his 'are you sure'.

They were very plentiful to start with and the first batch didn't have those questions. The first one I ever found was in an arcade in Blackpool. They couldn't really defend themselves. Skegness had SIX in various arcades. The idea was brilliant but in reality they invariably never got up as high as £1000.00. Cue the makers putting the stopper questions in such as saints days. The interesting thing was that they programmed in a bank of easy questions when the prize reached the high £900's and there were people going round checking the prizes and then hitting them at that point until the bank of easies came up. Could cost £30/£40 quid but a sound investment when the prize was over £900.
It couldn't last and they quickly disappeared until the only ones I found around were in bowling alleys. The last one I remember playing was in Edinburgh about 6 years ago...
