impacting of World Cup on quizzing

We are rapidly reaching that time when every chav in the land and those that ought to know better are positively brimming with nationalistic fervour and hoisting or rather foisting the flag of St George on the rest of us senient beings from every orifice and building. There was a time an inhabitant of England was in danger of a severe kicking (or beheading) by desecrating the flag but these half wits need to have the name plastered across it in case they forget who they are supporting.

Christmas used be a bumper bonanza when every (or so it seemed) pisshead would spunk their wages into the quizzer and I would follow in their wake for a deserved christmas bonus. Those days are sadly gone due to the sheer number of games available...

Does anybody believe the World Cup will result in a rake off for us? I am in trepidation with the vast numbers of loud mouth drunk low life that tend to descend on pubs when there is a game with local rivals or an important England game when there are so called supporters foaming at the mouth with the pride of Engerland.

I predict that I will suffer a drop in income due to (1) inability to get served in heaving pubs wasting time.(2) more people playing machines for longer . Good when you actually get on the thing.(3) more broken machines as swp's will be a low priority as pubs maximise their takings through alcohol and soft drink sales being stretched.

I know this has been debated on here before, but why would you be worried about getting served in a heaving pub (unless you have actually gone in to get a drink)

In what way did you deserve a bonus, in the same way as the Bankers did? :?

I'd have thought that overall the World Cup is likely to be negative while it's on, primarily for the reasons you mention. It's difficult - sometimes impossible - to get to machines while big football games are on, and even if they the crowd can be very distracting.

However, one would hope that, once the WC has finished, there may be a bit of cash in the SWPs that might not otherwise have been there. One would hope MOTD or FFQ, with their football themes, might get a bit of a fillip.

all fair points but surely there is an elephant in the pub?

why on earth would you want to be playing a quiz machine when there is a world cup game on?

I'd happily watch the matches at home, then pounce when the primitive pub folk are starting to disperse. Time it right and you won't feel the pressure to buy a drink.

You just have to hope the machines are working to be on the end of their mug-caused munificence. Any breakdown is, as you say, going to be at the bottom of their priority list.

I understand that there will be quite a few footy based games on various platforms over the coming months. some will be new and some will be older game re released.

Does that mean a certain Mr Brewis's ears (amongst others) should be pricking at this point?

Machine takes should go up during the World Cup since I will be taking a month off to watch it. Arf.
