itBox v68
itBox v68
Spotted this lunchtime.
Pretty unexciting I think: two new games - the Colour of Money game which has already appeared on the latest GamesNet issue, and the MB Games-themed version of Battleships, which again I think I've seen on the GamesNets. Not immediately clear to me what has disappeared, but John Parrott is still there (albeit on the backscreen) and, against my expectations, FFQ remains there in roughly the same position at the foot of the backscreen - no doubt INCA will be breathing a sigh of relief.
Edit: just had a look at the previous itBox 67 thread, and I note Nil Satis claimed that Rocket Money had disappeared on that issue. Not sure if that was right, but it was definitely on the 68 I saw at lunchtime, on the backscreen. Odd.

I'm afraid I didn't notice ggdr.ggdr wrote:Was Word Soup still missing Grecian?
The standard itBox and GamesNets line-ups really have coalesced over the last couple of issues, haven't they - don't think there are many points of difference now, and can't really see why GamesTec don't just pick one box over the other and stick with it.
... or alternatively find an enormous skip and pour the whole lot of them into it. I presume their absence from ATEI (if the current list of exhibitors is accurate) is down to nothing more than a feeling of shame at the desperate set of games they now deem worthy of inclusion on their cabinets. Market leaders to the Fisher Price 'My First Quiz Machine' in less than two years is quite some achievement.
However in keeping with the happy spirit of Isty's recent post, my favouritest colour in the whole wide world is Royal Blue.

Sorry - I take it all back. Gamestec are appearing at the parallel event to ATEI where they will no doubt astonish the assembled masses with the raft of high quality Q&A games they are about to unleash onto an expectant market.
No sign of GWHL at either event yet (unless my eyesight is failing me in my advancing years).

Correct. I was looking at the PDF list which clearly isn't up-to-date. Still, I stand by everything else I said - I genuinely do find the current state of both ItBoxes and Gamesnets shocking, particularly in comparison to how they have both been in the not too distant past. It just feels like the makers have given up on them, in the same way that pubs are often neglected in the weeks and months before they close for good.
