caveman capers scuppered
numerous units middlesex 'game not available'.Is there a numpty bleeding them dry or a fault on the units?
Was it ever determined the reason why some caveman capers read only £1?

Yes: at least on 'Capers' this is pretty much the standard mode on most London Ind:e terminals that I know about now. I have my suspicions that it may be being INCAed.QuizMaster wrote:'Game not available' is generally an indication on terminals that the player(s) in that location have demonstrated sufficient skill levels that the application's defence can no longer cope. Thus it is removed from play.
PS Cool - get orrrfff my laaarnd! ;-)

from a source close to him I was told he liked a certain question bank with crossover.Games where you nibble DOND , monopoly etc he's not interested. Ive seen this personally when I arrived at an INDE a day after him when all games except Caveman were ok (non london location). This contrasts with my experience following a day behind Nils who did a masterful mugging of every game I play on one!
It could be that he cant be arsed to eke out scraps, the fact that with certain games he is in control or that he is just a perfectionist who wont play games he is essentially mediocre at.
It could also be with the emergence of the new games media format he believes caveman is on the wane and having a last hurrah.
Remember he has lost a major income stream football trivia quiz
Anyway I will contact my source over the christmas period and report back with a press release

a salient point.
In the days of the skillcash , time machine ,adders and ladders there were numerous people emptying machines and I admit I would try not to leave them empty but have them payout 10p's for the following pro so that they got the ire of the publican.
I think that it isnt so much people doing the machine over but suri has revisited and the game just hadnt filled up.I may be wrong.

What would it take to cause such a game to be made unavailable? i.e. how many repeat Jackpots? Caveman Capers has the intermediate defence mechanism as we know of the '£1 JP' game so does someone have to have the skill (and bloodymindedness!) to take that £1 before it becomes unavailable or will a certain number of JPs, without enough losing cash being taken in the meantime, cause its removal? If that certain number was as low as two JPs, for example, Suri might only be taking a second JP after quite possibly another player won the first.
Also as I've mentioned on here before re the similar issue of machines running out of cash to pay you the full amount of a legitimately-earned prize, you don't necessarily have to be doing something like this as a deliberate act.
There is the other issue that the new version of the Ind:e doesn't have Caveman Capers as far as I can recall based on a brief viewing (or very little else decent for that matter!). You might as well try to maximise your winnings on a game you know to be disappearing anyway.
Just my thoughts on a cold night and after several days of not touching a quiz machine in anger - I must be getting SWP Withdrawalitis...

Interesting stuff. I imagine that INCA is doing this to ensure he maximises his take before the game goes - it's been around a *long* while now, and as Nil observes, is missing from the latest Ind:e line-ups. As for whether anyone else in London is doing them, I think this is a game that HYENA prides himself on his ability at, although whether that extends to being able to pot a non-easy mode game of CC, I don't know.
I also wondered whether this means that e.g. INCA's gone to the trouble of potting it on £1JP mode. Somehow I doubt he'd bother, which leads me to wonder whether that mode has been removed from the game and/or replaced by the game removal message. All rather a shame, as I did enjoy this game and was tolerably good at it, but these are the perils of sharing favourite games with a player of INCA's ability (vide FFQ).
