At lunch-time I went with Potts to the Princess of Wales next to Embankment tube.
We eventually cleared it but there was a new name. Well one I don't know about unless it is a psuedonym or one of the VB lot. Somone called Morty had QUIZZICAL and INQUISITION. We got about 1700 and a couple of 200 point words but nothing for Ernest's website.

No wonder I drink!

had a tenner out of the moribund cube at lunchtime and £12 off the others. but i was speaking to a real life Hungarian who told me that CSUPÁN doesn't mean what i thought it did
ops:
so i've got myself a new pseudonym from vorarlbergiosh, a language which exactly 10 people know.
erm big up word up. woo! woo!

nobody ever wins on those things.
Evening all.
I've just about managed to read my way through this mountainous thread - some impresive WU chat!
Our WU partnership has some respectable scores but, alas, has now somewhat disbanded since I graduated.
Our top scores were for SCINTILLATES, DIFFERENTIALS and EXPONENTIAL. (Us being WORDUP SOC). EL GEORGIO now holds sway over some machines in Ipswich (surely this should be VB territory!?) and the Bracknell area.
Main focus these days is the Scrabbling though. If any of you are good for a few boards, drop me a msg. I use ISC and my handle is Orixa

Long live the WU...

Of course, what Bob means is, he'd rather he got £20 (cubing it to the max) than you got £10 (pimping it in da groinwagon). Which is quite selfish, but would be justified if he offered to give you £10 for your trouble
Stevange was pre-owned by BEN (also big in Southend, Colchester and some other places). Maybe even his home town, since there were loads of medium clearances and a few 1800+.
It is now throughly Bobbed. VB best score of day 2027. Also 8 scores over 1900 to put BEN in his place.
We also Bobbed BEN at Letchworth spoons. Didn't seem to be any machines in Hitchin.
And a team record on Itbox football of 54250 pts (of which exactly 54250 pts were scored by EWQ).

This means you need to recruit and train a noob.... maybe from your scrabble club? Personally I never play scrabble but Bob does and will no doubt give you a game.Orixa wrote:Our WU partnership has some respectable scores but, alas, has now somewhat disbanded since I graduated.
Bob and Bob's mum sometimes go shopping there so he will probably find a moment to go and out-filth your scores.Orixa wrote:EL GEORGIO now holds sway over some machines in Ipswich (surely this should be VB territory!?) and the Bracknell area.
Bob is indeed Mr Wobble, but isn't quite as keen on Scrabble as he used to be (pre-WU days). He does like http://www.jumbletime.com tho' as it's all about the frantic anagramming.Orixa wrote:Bob wouldn't by any chance be Mr Wobble would he?
I think I remember seeing some EL GEORGIO scores in Ipswich before (this was more than a few months ago). As far as I was aware, I was top on all town centre Ipswich scoreboards last time I was there, which means you've either a) beaten some of my scores b) some of the machines have been reset. Remember to send in news of the fall of any pubs in our empire and any scores over 1800/good words etc. The Golden Lion is my Ipswich HQ btw.
Still haven't decided which pub to make my London 'local,' tho' I have just taken The Rocket this eve' with a 1981.
I was on a pool team who played out of the Three Jolly Sailors (2nd in league/won the cup
) so had a dabble on the machine there. Nothing very inspired but I seem to recall i nailed most of the scores on the machine. There certainly wasn't any VB action going on there though I do remember when I went up to Scotland, via Stansted, and took a coffee break at the WU machine and spotted some fairly wazzo scores.
I love the fact that there are travelling rogue teams vying for superiority on machines across the UK - kind of reminds me of Risk type games. I definitely see a machine like the Stansted one as being a key territory!

I wish you would quit semi-bumming the cubes - it ruins it for pros and novices alike.
next time is see a virgin cube i will put £20 through it deliberately losing. then i'll pm you with the location and invite you to mop up the detritus.
i had another househunting mission in chiswick and acton over the weekend which was wholly futile. acton is a hole and all three itboxes in chiswick had screens askew.
also welcome to the board Orixa

I've come to the conclusion that most of London is a hole - and that most Londoners are dicks.unknownpseudonym wrote:i had another househunting mission in chiswick and acton over the weekend which was wholly futile. acton is a hole and all three itboxes in chiswick had screens askew.
Looks like I'll fit right in.

I managed DEMONICALLY in Esquire House, Glasgow today, which gets on the national boards at 330pts/11 letters (to go with multiple SATANICALLYs from ANGIE ANDY, something of a theme going on there)...but much more exciting was that it formed part of a 1569 non-clearance, which also included QUIZZES as I efficiently worked through a friendly grid.
I was left with good shape and once down to 9 letters, had 6 reasonable consonants and 3 vowels but infuriatingly couldn't find the finish combo that would have realised c.2090 - up there with unknown's solo best, and within 35 of Bob. I'm not sure what Andy would have made of me cruising past our team best so soon after going solo!
