To be fair, there have been times over the last year when you have said there is no money in quiz machines while I have been making quite a bit out of them. I am sure QM etc. are still taking good money out the things even if I can't be bothered.
As it happens this has been my second best year so far since I started keeping detailed records a good few years back, and might well end up being my best. I've never said there is no money in ALL quiz machines/games, but what I certainly would say is that there is no worthwhile money in 90-95% of games. It's how the number and availability of the small set of decent games varies that determines what rewards you can take from the hours you put in. At times there have been as many as 10 freely available games with what I would consider to be worthwhile money offered in the right circumstances, but my version of that list is now down to around 5 and all of those are more than a year old now. Others will of course have their own version of that list, and their own idea of what 'worthwhile' means.

there's always the chance that standalone 'skill' ball for instance will just have the amld paid on it and the jpt raised to 70GBP( ) so they then are legal, these things do take a lot of money afterall.

it's defo bye bye to some games though it would seem.

Good. And from a brief look at that press release, it doesn't mention compensators / chance games designed to look like skill etc., does it - hopefully they have realised that such things are key to the viability of SWPs for all players.

Unless the GC/HMRC actually start prosecuting operators you can't really see such faux gambling games disappearing in hurry. Since it is going to lose operators loads of money they are naturally going to try and put it off as long possible.

Blatant example of dodgy operator tactics.......
Gamestec Itbox monopoly £1 a game £50 jackpot.
punter puts money in 50p a game £20 jackpot.

Hi Boys,
Looks like some games will also go. Add to Poker, Roulette, Bingo and fruit style reel style games but now add Deal or no Deal and Monopoly as these are games of chance ....
Well at least we still have fruits!!!

Not exactly secret... but there is a lot of discussion to be done between any interested parties before anything becomes concrete. Therefore, as nothing is set in stone, it would be better for people in the industry not to mention anything that was said that could in any way jeopardise HMRC thoughts... Its entirely possible they would read websites like this to try and gain inside information. And whilst the games that borgcontact mentioned ARE skill, and HMRC are no doubt trying it on with a very badly worded piece of legislation which no doubt never intended to stop SWP's in the guise of board games, anything anyone says which adds credence to their cause is making a bad situation worse. It would be sensible not to mention anything that hasn't been mentioned in a public statement.

And as borgcontact is no doubt in the industry, he should have known better than to post anything other than fact on this board!
