I heard there were tournament capabilites on the new machine.
I wasn't shown any such games Lugsy, but now you mention it one of the genre buttons on the menu was for tournament games, so one assumes there will be some at some point.

I was the other Forum member that went along to visit GWHL with grecian
and hopefully you'll all agree that my past history of posts on here re the Games Warehouse/Paragon offerings make it clear that we are not simply plugging their new cabinets and games (despite the blatant bribery of a very nice GWHL mug that now sits proudly on my desk  ). We were merely asked to give an honest assessment of what we saw, both to the GWHL staff we met and on here if we wanted to post about the visit.

I would concur with most of grecian's original post, although I would say that I am somewhat more sceptical of Track and Field, which seems to me to be two separate games (Skill and Q&A) merged uncomfortably into one. The Skill part will definitely have some appeal to those of "a certain age", and will give a good early reason to use those new buttons, but I found the Q&A game far too slow and long-winded. If in the real world the endgame prizes prove to be sufficiently enticing I might change my mind on this one but that remains to be seen.

In terms of the question re the Tournaments button, we believe that the plan is to offer skill-based tournaments via that; not my cup of tea at all but well worth a look for those of you good at that sort of thing.

I do have to ask one question though:

Short for "mal-co-ordinated" - I think I first heard it at school so maybe it's a southern English slang term. Basically, I'm piss-poor at games involving manual dexterity of any kind, which thankfully doesn't usually matter on an SWP (although slows you down on e.g. Caveman Capers).

I've realised I left my Games Warehouse mug somewhere en route home! Absolutely ridiculous I could be so careless - I'd only had two pints. :(

brownie point to Ed for using suffice as a verb. but a black mark for taking the piss out of me.
