Great response guys - as ever I've come over all nostalgic at the mere mention of these long gone gems!

I'd forgotten about Around the World - the 80 Days-themed one - that was relatively recent but a decent enough game.

As for 'Big Break' - is that the Jim Davidson/John Virgo themed one? I remember playing a very similar pinball style game in a couple of pubs in York circa 97/98, where you had to get all six coloured 'bumpers' for £20. Like the snooker one you could go round and round forever if it didn't want to pay but if it did it was a very enjoyable way to win the cash.

I can confirm the recent sighting of the standalone Crystal Maze at The Gun, the gastropub by Canary Wharf - it was there when I visited the pub six months ago on a stag do. I never played that one so couldn't confirm the exact version etc, although there is an old post of mine about it which may still lurk on here with the details I posted at the time.

That's the one. From memory the trick was, as on Guiness Book of Records, to collect the coloured balls / bumpers before bumping the cash prize up too much. Once you have the balls / bumpers, get the cash prize up to whatever it will give. Haven't seen it for years although always greatly enjoyed playing it.

What about the clone of 'Big Break' in the guise of 'Pinball Wizard'?

Just a quick post to say I came across Fruit Pursuit this week in an arcade in a small English coastal town - £1.50 yielded an immediate £25 on the 50p and £1 games. I played this the night after struggling to a £20 win on various games on the town's only ItBox and it really struck me quite how much more challenging the games of now are compared to the games when I started playing. I reckon FP might have been a bit earlier than 1998 actually - from the preponderance of 1995/6 music questions, a little earlier I reckon.

Two old Cluedos spotted in the departure lounge of Luton Airport. One of them was switched off, presumably something wrong with the screen. Far too common a problem with the old machines.

How evil of them to put two such tantalising machines in a place one can only access if leaving the UK, and where one can only spend the briefest of periods!

There's a guiness world records standalone at a cinema in york, also a beat the clock somewhere too.

Also there's a 20p play quizzer tucked away at an arcade in scarborough, the name escapes me though.

edit, i'd already mentioned PB... cunt.

In case anyone is still scouring Southampton for it, the Fruit Pursuit in the pizza place had gone last time I was down there.
