made the usual mistake of playing ' under the influence ' last night , took £4 on DOND second game and £6 for 2 lines on SkillBall straight away then played the new version of Millionaire. Played 4 or 5 games and got up to 32,000 for £2 , thought that will do and collected only to find that all i had won was the chance to 'play' for £2 , managed to solve the question , and then was stunned to see in small print at the bottom of the screen that it costs £1 a go ! - WTF? , a pound a go and you might not win anything at all for getting a million points , have i missed something? it has happened before in a spoons when on the Abbots Ale , has anyone played this?
No, you're right. It's a £1 a play, and to win any cash at all you have to play an endgame involving ordering four "celebrities" in order of age. I've never been good at photo quizzes, so for me it's a non-starter, but given the obscurity of some of the slebs involved, I suspect that few people will be capable of doing well on this. So to conclude, the new WWTBAM appears to me to represent the decline to nothing of a once great quiz machine franchise, which began to decline in the 2006 incarnation and has died a death with the Celebrity Edition. Requiescat in Pace.
As a matter of interest, has anyone seen the prize amounts starting above the second guaranteed prize marker?
The pictures are a bit of a con, but I suspect there aren't thousands in there, so it's only a matter of time and hard work. Easiest method I've found so far is simply to work out who the eldest and youngest are, giving me at least a 50/50 on the middle 2 if nothing else. I actually prefer it to 2006, since I find the questions a lot easier than the spoilerfest that was the last edition. Not seen any Beano/Dandy rubbish yet anyway.
£1 a go doesn't faze me. If I played for fun it might. But I don't. If I want to play games for fun I'll stay at home and play Wii Sports.
Stupid punters. Telly all the week, screw the wife Saturday
i admit that the questions on 8000 and 16000 are easier than previous versions , but the fact remains that it takes 7 or 8 correct answers to get to the £1 and to solve the age puzzle in order to get your money back , if you or anyone else is consistently winning on this game then good luck to you cos you deserve it.

Very good QM. It was a funny one this - when it came out I thought it looked brutal but then about two weeks in I went back to it, got a jackpot out of nowhere (I think I posted about this, such was my surprise), and have played it lots ever since. I agree with your comments on the endgame - unless it's burnt (in which case I wouldn't waste time on it), generally there tends to be one difficult order in the endgame (i.e. two people you can't sort), which effectively reduces it to a 50:50 punt.
