Does anyone else feel that the skill element to win prizes in both skill and quiz games is going south. I mean there seems to be loads of these games have dodgy prize games where skill isnt needed at all, you end up feeling ripped off because you think you done the hard bit with answering the questions correctly only to find.........well you know the rest.

Up to a point. Games have always used a variety of different mechanism to try to protect themselves from paying out too much and the dubious game of chance has always been one of them. I agree there are one or two good examples about at the moment - the endgame on Golden Balls comes particularly to mind (although for some reason I still enjoy the game) - but equally there are plenty of games that don't have any such chance element and will pay out if you're good enough - Celebrity WWTBAM, for instance, or FFQ. Personally I don't object too much to a game of chance if the rest of the game is good, and I think it can be a good way to enable the game to deliver a reasonable amount of gettable and interesting questions while protecting its bank.

It's easy to determine which type of games are the most popular.

They're the ones that have been around forever.

I have pulled others up in the past. They know who they are. A cursory glance through all your historic posts would seem to indicate that you are often seeking opinion and feedback about games, particularly I note, Video AWP's, which nobody else in this forum gives a flying fuck about.

Personally I don't massively object to industry people in here - they clearly lurk anyway, and I don't think that posting without declaring their industry status is any worse (or better) than that. If it helps them go away and design some 'holy grail' games which appeal both to the general public and to better players like those on this forum, that must be a good thing.

But I would rather they declared themselves as the odd one does, so we could have a frank discussion about games. It's the subterfuge that bugs me, and the insidiuous, 'What do you think of this, what do you think of that?' type responses.

I'll start one off for kingzilla. 'Are You Smarter Than a 10 year Old' is way too diffcult for the average joe and your question writers have an unhealthy obsession with Boudicea.

True, although we all speak through a veil don't we. I don't see you, or me, or indeed any of the regular users, posting under their own names, do I?

I quite agree on AYSTATYE? The religion section really is tough as nails. As far as I'm aware all those questions are new and require a knowledge of world religions substantially in advance of my own knowledge. Does the game also have a nasty retreating tendency? I recently buggered up going for a £10 prize, and when I played it again (and again, several times), it wouldn't give me another seemingly generous game. What a meanie.

I can really see nothing to be gained by revealing your true identity and only things you can lose. Maybe you think getting your picture the trade paper was a good career move but I always
