Take it or leave it - Not playing fair?

Post by S_Exile »

Just been totally robbed by "Take it or leave it".

On the (origininal???) where you get a question and an answer appears, which you can either Take (ie true) or "Leave" (if you think the the displayed answer is incorrect).

With one question till the cash game... I get this beauty.

"Which of these composers was born first?"
Suggested answer - "Brahms"

How the hell can they put in a question like that where it is impossible to choose the correct answer. You cannot compare two composers if they dont show you both!!! Was Brahms born before or after an unknown figure? Its impossible to know, and needless to say I got it wrong.

I don't play these for profit, merely for enjoyment, but thats ridiculous. Are they programmed with "Impossible" questions in case you are looking like getting the cash.

If so the Office of Fair Trading may be getting a call!

This has been discussed previously I think - I don't think there's anything particularly sinister here, although I agree it's annoying. Suspect they've imported a load of questions from another bank and forgotten that some of them are not appropriate to the TIOLI format. You were just unlucky.

There was a far more insidious chip of TIOLI that appeared and disappeared in short order. Now the only TIOLIs left are unchipped ones on unupdated ItBox 54s, that shouldn't be an issue.

These do crop up from time to time and, as grecian points out, they are simply due to question sets being shared between games, rather than anything more sinister, although that doesn't make it any less annoying when it happens to you!

There is a similar issue when you get two out of three or four possibles answers the same, which I would guess stems from the original question set having had three answers only and then when it was expanded to four questions the extra one was in a few cases added without close checking of the existing three options. There is an example of this on one of the current games (Jiggy Bank possibly) where the question asks 'Who was the lead singer with Big Country?' and two of the possible answers are 'Stuart Adamson' but only one of them is marked as correct.

Happens on Bullseye all the time at the start of the game when you only have 2 answer options.

My personal favourite was: 'Which of these is the odd one out?

A/ Always
B/ Never
