Spot the haul

Post by JG »

Brand new Mobius-8 (infinity symbol, but not sure of Alt+??? so I'll just type 8 ) cabinet. Created by Geoff Langham of Quiztard fame. Anyway they have a couple of intriguing games on this cabinet.
Horse and Gasket Inn at Monk's Blaby (nr Leicester) if anyone is interested and local. Or very interested and foreign.

I tried a quid and the first game I saw was 'Spot The Haul' by Vernons. Yes Vernons who used to offer football pools amongst other things. Basically the game asks a question and you have to guess where the answer might be by touching the screen in that place. So you might get a picture of a leopard and the question is "Which of these towns is furthest South?". The correct answer is of course Poole, which is got by touching the tip of the leopard's tail. You cannot see the answers which is a pleasant twist. When the spoilers kick in you cannot see the questions either, so you have to spot the question (or where you think the question might be) and then guess where the answer is....very entertaining. The prize structure is generous, just find two answers for a £1!

Then there was "Deal or no Deal - no boxes" A fantastic game! I put in a quid and if offerred me £6.28 - remember there are no boxes, so I had no idea if this was a good offer or a bad offer. I no dealt and it offerred me £24.50 - again I wasn't sure if I was winning or losing here so I no dealt and was offerred a measly £1.40 which I hastily collected. It turned out the question was "What is Ann Widdicombe's middle name?" so if I had known that, I probably would have taken the £20 offer. Still all good fun.

There is also "Reality QTV: Link up quizzer deluxe" a reality quiz link up whereby as many as eight quiz machine pros chain themselves to various LAN linked mobius 8s and have to answer 1 question per minute for as long as they can. The last quizzer left standing after the others have died of caffeine intolerance and exhaustion is crowned the winner and goes on to the quarter finals in May. The prize is a free go on Deal or no Deal - no boxes.

Then I had to go and have some food which someone had bought me. So that was that. Anyone seen one of these yet? Oh yeah, I think that Mathematrix game is on there as well. Chuckle.

this seems to be a talent-squandering exercise, there are some very neat turns of phrase in what SP has written. it is all blathering hooey but still quite entertaining.
nobody ever wins on those things.
