Reading the blurb on that site, I think that's the point - they are all available!Drpepper wrote:If all of those games are available i'd be overjoyed.
New multi-game cabinet?
me too. What I don't get is the PIN no. thingDrpepper wrote:If all of those games are available i'd be overjoyed.
Who gets the Pin no. the player or the operator? While ‘My Games’ allows players the opportunity to store and re-visit their favourite games using a PIN number even when they no longer appear on the main screen.

This sounds like a very good Idea to me. Lets face it how many times have you walked away from a Paragon because of the shite selection of games.

with so many games, it sounds very much to me like it will be a honeypot to accomplished players who will take all the easy and mid-range money available, leaving mug punters with battered games which won't offer them a sniff. and thus it will only be played by people who fancy themselves as a bit tasty. but i'll reserve judgment until i've played one.
nobody ever wins on those things.
It depends how brave they are with the game selections - if the list of games on grecian's link is an accurate guide it looks like you'll just be faced with a much longer list of games that aren't worth playing!Roberto La Vigna wrote:Surely the chance to pick and choose from a vast selection of games turns every machine into a pocket-bulging quids dispenser for every passing player worth their salt?![]()
I don't often agree with QuizMaster but a piece of advice he posted on here ages ago always sticks in my mind and seems entirely apt here - what you DON'T play is every bit as important (if not more so) that what you DO play.
In my view whilst this lacks a few of the real payers of recent years (and it would have been a big surprise if Big Match had been featured...!) it's got a very good selection of the last two years' or so games on it which should be good for a big win at least on the first play at a new location. For me at least there's 12 or 13 games there which I would play with a hope of a decent £2-£5 prize, which adds up if even half of them are paying. There's also a further 5 or 6 games which I enjoy and would play whilst not having much hope of winning (that marks me out as an amateur I know!)
That said, I do fear that we could be in a situation where there are forty or so games on the machine but only about five or six of those are played at all regularly by Joe Public. I often suspect that a bit on the ItBox now - sometimes you'll go to a venue with a totally static or empty Tetris scoreboard, say, and wonder how many others are putting any money in. So for those games I suspect it'll be a case of an initial raid on the low- and mid-hanging fruit and then enjoyment plays only from then on. Whilst it's good to see such a vast selection of games at the end of the day only about five or six games at any one time really hold any lasting appeal to Joe Public and the rest are nostalgia plays for we keen players.
I'd also say that this takes the average length of play at one machine on another level. Generally I find an hour is typically enough to saunter round your average ItBox testing the main payers and winning a few bob here and there. With this machine I reckon an hour's pushing it and you'll leave decent games unplayed.

i found one of these o.p.e.n efforts in the battlecruiser yesterday. was quite pleased that it seemed to have a few games which were new (to me anyway) something about vegetables which wouldn't load, and a news quiz thingie which flummoxed me as the news was all trivial redtop gossip from 18 months ago. but none of the games i played were particularly stylish or throwing money at me. (only had an hour to kill.)
i suspect this may be the same one as Grecian played because some of the more challenging Q&A games were clammed up and there was the telltale 801 on japseye and then only the chance of £1. but i did what i had to do on the word games so came out up.
will it cach on? who is to say? it did seem to me unneccesarily awkward to navigate the menus and certain games seemed to only be reachable through convoluted routes. e.g. to get to WU i had to go to bollockbusters, then i-spy (the wordy one), then boggle and finally WU. there didn't appear to be anything i could touch on the landing page to take me to a secondary menu. also the touchscreen was awry which is always annoying.
another thing: the payout button only appears when you have no credit left and money banked. it is minuscule. i realise that chumps very rarely collect any coins from these things but if they did it would be an effort to work out how.

surely this Pin thingy is just a quiz type of loyalty card i.e they track who plays what and where and who wins on what and when
you don’t just jump into bed with Terry Tibbs, you take Terry Tibbs out to lunch, you wine and dine him, you give him an oil massage then he gives you 1950 if you’re lucky!
If so that could open the door to all sorts of sinister possibilities - e.g. if a decent player logs in the machine immediately jacks up the game difficulty or removes games that the player has previously profited on.Doctor wrote:surely this Pin thingy is just a quiz type of loyalty card i.e they track who plays what and where and who wins on what and when

Haven't seen one of these yet, although have seen all of the games discussed so far. Is that the 'news' quiz the one with the guy off the Harlem Globetrotters doing the sports questions?
I'm presuming you don't have to give your name address etc when you use or register a pin, and if you don't, surely there are only 9999 available pin numbers?
Won't that get itself in a mess when there are loads of machines out? If that was on itbox or Paragon then people would end up having the same pin numbers all over the place. No doubt I'd be unlucky enough to pick the same one as UP and then find a load of Paragon shite as 'My Menu' when I logged in.

1. the news quiz is very clunky with a mocked-up newsdesk and some fella in a suit sat down. i doubt he plays for the harlem globetrotters so must be a different game.
2. you have a username as well as a pin number. i am called pseud but i won't be using that one again. the whole idea seems ill-thought-out although i don't think there is anything sinister involved.
3. good one
