Fuck me boys if you can't win on this then I'm afraid there's little hope for you as semi serious knowledgites. A possible ray of sunshine in what was shaping up as a seriously bleak summer.

As a famous man once said, the difference between a pro and a semi pro, is that the pro can always work out which one it's not.

I thought it would be a good idea, but after playing it for a while in one of my locals I just got bored. Easy to win money on it though, boredom with money. Beats work!!!
Well, I wrestled with
reality for years, Doctor.
And I'm happy to state
I finally won out over it.

Hello there. I played it on Thursday, 3rd May in a quietypoos location and plopped in 50p, with a minimum of knowledge I crept up to £3 no problem. I tried another 50p and nearly got the fiver, subconsciously I felt sorry for it, so messed that one up.

The next round was TRUE or FALSE first round and straight to spoilers. The film Pinky's goat chase (Mandarin version) won 2.4 Oscars in the 2nd half of play True or False. I guessed wrong and got it right, so that was that.

Popped up to The MegaBowl and tried it there - TRUE of FALSE first round and not happy. Never mind knowing what it isn't, not understanding the questions is also a slight downer.

ñ68♦61→84613+~~flip flip blop = 645!!??!
True of False.

I lost, then played Bullseye which 301 started and I won £3 which it didn't pay out and it was noisy and there were lots of people at the bar and I cut my finger trying to push it up the chute of The Itbox and I'd won over £100 on fruit machines anyway so that was that,

I agree with some of the others having played this today. Sometimes the word the questions in a tricky way to catch you out - and i got stung twice today. Also, why is it when you try and guess the wrong answer on here you pick the right one! Annoying as hell! :x

First spotted this a few weeks ago and was wondering when someone would break cover to talk about it (I've been away on holiday for the last week or so). Definitely a good payer: I've played three separate stints on it, each of about three games, and on each occasion have won a £5 prize. It's easier for the reasons Cool said above - namely that the chance of getting the question 'right' by chance is twice what it would be on an ordinary three-option game. This is compensated somewhat by the lack of any try again option as standard although it often offers one in the bonus round, although it's still easier than nearly all modern games. As for whether it's fixed, on my limited observations, I'd say not, and that I've picked the right (i.e. the wrong) option by chance on about 1 out of every 3 occasions when I've had to guess. As Cool says the True or False round is, in humorous contrast to ordinary games, the hardest round: it doesn't automatically come up in the final round though; it can come up anywhere. Anyway, a very welcome addition to the ItBox (is it just me or has it been introduced halfway through edition 50?); let us hope that it's played enough by Joe Public to make it profitable notwithstanding the fact that more experienced players may be able to capitalise on it.

Are there no questions which have got 2 correct (i.e. wrong) answers and 1 wrong (correct) ...e.g.

Which Englishman has played James Bond..

A) Daniel Craig
B) Timothy Dalton
C) George Lazenby

Have only had 1 quick bash of this, so I don't know!

A good question, and from my limited experience thus far, I don't think so. In your example, a bit controversial to describe Dalton as English - he was born in Wales and is half (Irish-Italian) American, according to Wikipedia!

Ah... good point.

Regulars to the Phoenix Quiz forum on this message board will not be surprised to learn of the shoddy nature of that question.

the gospel according to Cardinal Richelieu.

the only money i have won on this was £1 by virtue of being a dunce.

i got the first question wrong (right) and in sympathy for my ineptitude the game gave me the standard moving cards bonus, all of which said £1 on them.
but it is so very ugly and clunky.

the question i got right?
which of these has been married?
a. cliff richard
b. elton john
c. george michael

i am a cretin.

When Elton John married his wife (Renate somebody if memory serves), I believe one of the Sydney papers ran the headline 'Good On Yer, Poofter'.

The most annoying thing about this is that if you play other games after this one, you start thinking about pressing the wrong answer, because it's right. The worst thing of all though is getting the wrong question to the right answer.
