What's gone wrong with Gamesnets?

Post by Cardinal Sin »

Cheerio to Caveman Capers, Bullseye (thought that was there to stay), Boggle, Big Match and Ant and Dec ....

And a big hello to such nonsense as Message in a Bottle (which has one semi-decent prize in it before it becomes pointless), some hangman effort which rips the pish, and some News Quiz (which isn't too bad tho it is a tad lacklustre).

It seems It-boxes have more these days - they've still got countdown, WU Grandmasters, 100-1, battleships etc...

Was 'Word Flipper' on the machine you saw?

that might have been it... although I'm sure there were 2 new word games.

The one I played looked like a word game, but then turned out to be hangman. After getting 10+ clues right and still nowhere near a £1, I signed a solemn pledge never to play it again (if only I could say the same about Take it or Leave it)

I hate to be proved right on something as depressing as this but we have been down this route before:

http://www.fruitchat.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=6490

And without claiming full 'Mystic Nil' status, I'd say that virtually every word of my original misgivings about that release of the Gamesnet has proved to be correct - have any of those games proved to be worth more than the initial 50p investment?!

I know someone on here is going to accuse me of having my rose-tinted spectacles on again but, trust me, things have NEVER been worse. And don't get me started on the ItBox...

The only positive thing I can say is that if you can travel and know where one or two of the last few decent machines are lurking, you can win as much as you are going to in 3-4 hours a week now - every hour after that will be all but pointless so you can at least save yourself an awful lot of wasted time.

To some extent. LL now have the WWTBAM licence, so they've made it exclusive to Itbox.
