This time next year

it'll all be over. that's my sad prediction. I can still make a few bob in a fresh town/city but it's becoming apparent that the gig is up imo. Not enough pubs and certainly not enough pubs with machines. And not enough games on those machines...Anyone disagree?

The latest Paragon lineup is dire. Since when was tri towers a quiz game??????? having said that i got my first tenner out of million £ drop on this lineup.
Watching people try to work out what the fuck is happening on DOND Skill is always good for a laugh. The nightclub im a regular in doesnt have the normal DOND game on the lineup, but a pub down the road does, i was told it was updated about 2 weeks ago.

I wouldn't like to put a timescale on the total demise but certainly the shortened two screen paragon version leaves a lot to be desired. Still money to be had at the moment but it's a bit of a slog.

People have been predicting the end since we started. Did anyone think in 1986 we would still be at it in 2013?

Fair point. Maybe it's just the darkest hour before the dawn.
Maybe loads more pubs will open.
Maybe they'll all go mad for machines.
Maybe those machines will have more content.
Maybe itboxes will make a comeback.
Maybe they'll put the volume control back on.
Always look on the bright side of life.

We all know someone who's confidently predicted the end of machining as we know it (actually, now I come to think of it, I am that man, or was, in 1989...1992...1995...etc). I think the big difference between 1989 and now is the state of the pub trade: I bet we all know dozens (hundreds?) of pubs which have gone upmarket and got rid of all their machines at the same time as they brought in the stripped pine furniture and put candles on the tables, not to mention the ones which have turned into Tescos, and Indian restaurants, and blocks of flats, or just been boarded up and left to rot. Even all the new JDWs over the last 20 years can't make up for that.

Reading some of the replies on here I thought - you never know, the darkest hour etc

Then today I saw the new Gamesnet menus on the big eggys! Great to see them bring some of the utter turd from the recent crap opens and the last dying itbox menu. Stuff like Pop The Question where the JP is £1 lol.
They got rid of PMP too. Utterly appalling.
Only one decent(ish) machine left now. That's the big problem.
