Noticed this recently in a town centre ' spoons then yesterday saw it in two more ' spoons in Sheffield. The quiz machines have been swopped over with a fruit machine so that its the SWP that is in full view of staff / management ( including one where they moved tables so that the SWP is right in front of the bar about six feet away! - put £2 in Hex Maniac , collected £4 and felt conspicious even though i play for fun and do well to break even , so i guess thats how they want you to feel!
I think it's bad if you can go in and rattle out a jackpot on a fruity with no substantial heat from staff and are then made to feel bad for successfully negotiating some questions and taking some cash out of a quizzer!
I wonder if putting in 5x 20p to play a pound credit might make it seem like you're inserting more to begin with, thus making a collection seem less conspicuous?
I have not really noticed this in the spoons I have been in. Most are in the same spot they have always been in. The only big difference is most have now got rid of the ITBoxes. If this has happened I would think it more would be more down to toolers/note acceptor theives than players.
its probably not to keep on top of them, more likely to be a fall in takings, and they probably think that people are more likely toput their change from a drink in if they are flashing directly at you as you leave the bar??
could be a customer service masterstroke,so that eagle eyed staff can help out with the tricky questions when they are'nt too busy serving, using the microwave or not cleaning the tables or glasses properly.
