BY ANY MEANS
Just returned from a weekend in Scotland.....All "By Any Means" appeared to be absolutely hammered. All offering maximum £1.00 win at end of Episode 8. Is this common in "Big Cities"?
Anybody else seen such a phenomenon.....

Ouch! I didn't think the episode 8 prize could drop so low? I guess this is it's ultimate protection mode in full swing? Kudos to anyone who can consistently profit from this. I experienced a very tedious round on this the other day, where the initial target was something like 787 points and I think I stumbled through at least 7 or 8 question sets to reach it. Near to the end I needed ~7 points and it offered me a choice of 4, 5 or 6 (ish)!
On a related note, have pretty much mastered the boat, train and bike minigames, but that hot air balloon one still does for me most of the time...

"And do you ever contradict yourself, Minister?" "Well, yes and no..."

Interesting Tonka. I haven't been playing much lately, but haven't seen this phenomenon in or around London, but that's not to say there isn't a high-level Scottish player doing them. Where were you in Scotland?tonkarentino wrote:Just returned from a weekend in Scotland.....All "By Any Means" appeared to be absolutely hammered. All offering maximum £1.00 win at end of Episode 8. Can I ask what the purpose (if any) is of the watch is on the top right of the screen during questions? Its not the timer for the actual question.
It does move - and originally I thought when it hit 12 or something the "easy question" bonus or the like was removed, but its definitely not the case.
And I'll have a guess at Glasgow, because most machines I've played there have been very unfruitful.

The watch displays (in theory at least) the current time and date - a neat feature which I probably wouldn't have noticed myself had it not been pointed out to me! The "in theory" part is that of course it relies on the current time and date of the particular box to be correct, which as with any computer is not always the case.
The watch does also display in a red 'countdown' the time available during the train mini-game (the only one that is time-limited); I must admit I haven't noticed whether it also displays the time available to answer each question, although presumably it does so.
As for the general question re £1 Jackpot games, I haven't seen this anywhere on my travels, but those haven't ever (yet) extended North of the Border.

That seems proposterous concidering all the other ways it has to protect itself from overpaying.
I havent seen it myself anywhere but i did once encounter a Caveman Capers without a single win on the skeleton. I played it twice just to make sure i wasn't seeing things. I was correct, i wasn't seeing things (those things being prize awards!) Is this common?

that used to be common on cc and in deed was the question that first brought me to this forum. It's not common anymore as on most units it will not let yet you play the game at all which I guess is the ultimate protection.steveseagull wrote:That seems proposterous concidering all the other ways it has to protect itself from overpaying.
