For anybody who ever wondered...
...why the hell one of the topics on Pints Mean Prizes is called 'The Cake Is A Lie', here's the answer:

Turns out they're seriously into their computer games.

Full Metal Jacket, Twin Peaks, The Wire are just a few "normal" categories that I steer well clear of.
In a strange subversion one of my favourite categories is A-Team episodes. I've never seen an ep of it in my life but they're usually easy to figure out and it's use as a spoiler category is welcome

Taking the cake
If you get 'The Cake Is A Lie' and anything like 'Twin Peaks' or 'The Wire', then you're probably not going to JP. However, the likes of 'A-Team Episodes', 'Hindu Gods' and 'Oscar Winning Films / Composers' are usually good indicators that the game is there for the taking.

i've heard of maybe 20 of those and could give a brief bio of maybe five. the subject might as well be uninteresting collections of letters but meh. it is a spoiler category. i'm not in the business of memorising lists. so i'll just avoid the category. if you're not supposed to win, good for whoever was on PMP before. as for some computer game about an imaginary carrot cake...
my opinion is that the developers of this game have done a very good job in introducing a deal of wit to the genre. of course it needs to have abstruse categories. there would be no enjoyment in it if it paid 19-1 every time.
apparently the most synonymnic word/phrase is the state of drunkenness , that is another thing i know very little about.

nobody ever wins on those things.
