Is Daphne the smuggest woman on tv, or what? I laugh when she gets something wrong. She is so patronising. CJ is annoying, I grant, but less than her.

paddy spooner is an swp player who played them from late 80's-90's.attained the rare distinction of being booted out of uni/polytechnic.specialized particularly in the early days of playing adders & ladders but realised there was easier money to be had from game shows and media appearances.Apeared in the Daily Star about quiz playing (photo Worthing Bowl) and gave his name as Nick a fellow Bournemouth player.Had his own agent allegedly at one time.Appeared on 15-1 and Sale of the century where he won a jeep.Owing to investing in shares that nosedived(I did the same thing)was skint in early 90's.Big breakthrough came with Australian wwtbam ($250,000),followed by wwtbam uk (£250,000)and not so oft quoted wwtbam Ireland (1000 euros).Originates from New Milton Hants I believe. Was there recently when a local told me he had diappeared off the face of the planet although he had been nicked by his dad a couple of times(I was told he was a Dorset DRAUGHTS champion?).His sister stills lives in the area. Not held in particular high esteem by at least one local player who he had a falling out with(not me).I always found him friendly enough but with a superior air- a la Simon Cowell.Trademark-wore shorts at any time of the year with sunglasses equipped with a broadsheet. For smugness see wwtbam uk appearance.Age circa 40.Now believed to be making a living as a ladyboy in a Bangkok Bar called '15 on 1' with the nickname 'ping pong'

ok I made the last bit up.

Ye gods! Sounds like something Ruth Rendell would have made up. Thank you for your very informative answer. Tempted to ask you what you have against one of the others in your list, but maybe discretion is the better part of valour.

He I quote wanted to be a 'global commuter'- see waster. He was backpacking in Australia, staying with friends when the story goes was just about potless when he borrowed his friends phone to phone millionaire.Gets back to England makes hundreds (at least 400 I believe) and bingo gets on.Then goes to Ireland where it goes tits up.Maybe thats why he aborted his mission to get on USA millionaire. Was featured in the Mail On Sunday standing in front of the Taj Mahal reminiscent of those brainless Americans who go on a tour taking millions of photographs standing in front of the most photographed monuments on the planet and boring all and sundry when they get home.

Getting back to the original thread topic, I'd like to see an Only Connect SWP. But then I'm not sure how on earth it would work (apart from the wall of 16 words round). So this has been a useless contribution.

ggdr: Would be good for a lot of the members on here, but I can see Public of the Joe variety struggling to get very far unless the questions were of the 'lite' variety...

There must be lots of shows that we haven't thought of - although the majority of 'well known' shows have already been converted of course (DOND / GB / Bullseye...)
"And do you ever contradict yourself, Minister?" "Well, yes and no..."
