OK so it's not quite a casino, but every week i play the lotto online and as it's a minimum deposit i always play the leftover on scratchcards!

Has anyone else played these? They are crap! I've played at least 3 a week for the last 6 months and have never won anymore than £2!

Anyway what brought me on to this topic was an email i just received from the lotto website saying...

"we have exciting news about your lottery ticket, please log onto your account as soon as possible"

So i'm sat here and rush to the site and put the password in wrong several times in my excited state, then i eventyally get on and find a message saying click here, this is very exciting!

Anyways i was being informed that i had won a tenner in last nights draw!

How pathetic!

I really thought i'd won something big :(

It looks like its back to the drawing board

Thats a bad way to say 'you've won a tenner'. Just ends up being a let down!

I was gutted! :(

I think i'm gonna go back to the traditional way and put it on in the shop, maybe i won't spend as much on scratchcards either

Don't bother with the Lottery. It's a tax for the stupid if you ask me. The odds and prizes given are so unfair, i can't imagine why so many people play it. :x

If you want a fairer deal, play the bookies Lotto. Pick 3 and match 3 on there, and you get £500 back for a £1 stake. Much better, though still not amazing. Here are the lotto odds:

Match 6 main numbers - 1 in 13,983,816
Match 5 main numbers plus the bonus number - 1 in 2,330,636
Match 5 main numbers - 1 in 55,492
Match 4 main numbers - 1 in 1033
Match 3 main numbers - 1 in 57

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 54

You've got better odds of being struck twice by lgihtning than winning the lotto. They're also giving you 9/1 odds on 3 numbers, when the actual odds are 1 in 57. If more people looked at these stats, i'm sure they'd realise what a waste the whole thing is.

its a fair point, but I can see why people do it because although the odds of it are ridiculous 'someones gotta win!'

Someone from our town won it once! (its a very small town, population of about 11 thousand I think).....

I dont bother either though..

I'll have to look into that matt(b)

Do you know if you can play online? I've never been into a bookies and i've got a really addictive personality so i'd probably never come out again if i did

I read up about the bookies lotto thing, it sounds a lot better, maybe i'll actually win more than a tenner :(

Millions i guess, on the subject of scratchcards i did win £50 on one once, then another time i won £32. All bought from shops.

Scratchcards on the national lottery website are LETHAL, but if you play a little, they are ok, providing you walk away after a reasonable win like £18.

The ones i've done well with have been:
hot sevens
scrabble
snakes and ladders

On hot sevens i got £28 after three goes, but then i did something really dumb, i blew it all on there other cards.

Don't expect to win much more than that, i think the odd's on the higher prizes are insane, like on the purple card the odds of winning £1000 is like 1 in 3 million!!!
I mean WTF??

Didnt a german group try to get together once and buy EVERY combination of lotto card when the draw was a double rollover and at about £21M? dont know if they succeeded/were allowed. Surely thats a risk itself if other people get a winner too!

I won £200 on a scratchcard once. had a couple of £12 wins aswell.

So people do win on them, worst thing to win though is your money back! £1, shocking! :D

You DO win on them they are not a con per se, but the odd's are stacked against you so much.

1 in 5 of getting your money back and 1 in 14 of doubling it.
On roulette your chances of doubling your money is 1 in 2, problem with roulette is no one knows when to quit and usually play big, i mean if you just had the guts to throw £1000 on one number once a year, its 1 in 36 chance of turning £1000 into a whopping £36,000.
Most people dont have the cash to do it you have to be able to say "i can lose this and walk".

Truth be told though, many people waste £1000 a year on scratch cards, if you spend £3 a day on them, that adds up.

Mathmatics is your friend if you want to win.
