Fruit Vision

Eyesight. Bloody important isnt it......except i reckon fruits are ruining mine. I used to have razor sharp eyes a few years back and could pcik stuff out a miles away. Now my long sight is pretty miserable. Can't read numberplates from a distance, can't read news tickers on TV channels if i'm too far away etc. Think it could have been cauased by too much focus on lights at short distance? My long sight just doesn't get used often, so i reckon it's started to go through lack of use, or worse permanent damage from fruits. Happen to anyone else?

i done my eyes in the same way but put it all down to one machine ,a bwb skiller called 10 pound challenge, chase the lady thing 4 cards, you moved up a trail filling the unlit gaps to climb to a tenner. ideally you needed to stand back a bit from it and stare hard without blinking as you'd get some quite difficult flickers sometimes, made a nice few quid on these before people started milking them for shrapnel.

Ah, I find myself being very meticulous about my sight - having a test at least every 6 months (even though they suggest once every two years). I wear contact lenses at the following strengths:

Left Eye: -8.50
Right Eye: -4.20

So, I'm almost half blind in my left eye. :( (20-8.50=11.50) I can't even get a respectable-looking pair of glasses as the difference between both my eyes would make them look ridiculous (lens thickness).

Oh well... I do find myself straining at the fruits - especially if the venue is dark. Always a good idea to get out into a bit of natural light for a bit. Especially considering I work infront of a PC all week (and play infront of it all evening / weekend too). lol

You could probably fill many boats with people in the same position as you, Matt.

One of those boats would include me.

I've often wondered whether it is to do with fruit machines or maybe its nature taking its due cause. Coincidence? Who knows? My eyes started to deteriorate around 6 years ago, but have more or less stayed the same for the last 2. Like Matt, I can't read number plates, nor can I see faces at a distance, but worst of all is struggling to read any form of text on TV.

My g/f started to wear glasses after the birth of the little 'un and when I try them on........WOW!! Crispness, no furry edges - 20/20 vision. I know I need specs.......not yet though, eh. I can still play pool to a high standard thank you very much.

Matt, you referred to your eyesight problems as 'long sight'. It sounds to me you are SHORT-SIGHTED, but I'm sure you know this.

Yeah, i meant i had trouble with distant objects these days, which does indeed make me possibly short sighted. I may get some tests done, and if it is the case, i will probably opt for some laser treatment. I could get it done for a grand or just under for both eyes. Made over that last week punting, so its hardly a lot of money, for a treatment giving me lifelong corrected vision. Well worth it. 8)

i'd recommend getting glasses asap. ive recently been without a pair for the last 4 months. in that time my vision has gone from -0.75 to -1.25. damn you machines!! :x :x

It's not lifelong correction, the eye deterioration we all experience in middle age 40's-50's cannot be treated, but it's well worth it for a good 10 years vision, you'd probably pay the same or more in glasses/lenses.

I had laser treatment a couple of years back and now my eyes are perfect! Cos my vision was totally screwed, it did cost a lot (over 3k), but it was well worth it. Totally painless and each eye took less than two minutes to do! If you're thinking of getting it done then go for it - you'll not regret it for sure.

likewise my eyesight is f"£$$%d. im -8.5 in both eyes and wear contact lenses, my eyes are too bad to be laser treated as this would only restore them back to around - 3 .

as with glasses i have a ultra thin lens but still look like jam jars. i recommend if looking for ultra thin is glass, though they are heavy.

all down to the fruits. ive gone from 12 hours a day on the fruits to 12hrs a day on the computer . not good for the eyes.

Might as well jump in. I'm the same. As a youngster my eyes weren't perfect, but they were reasonable. A mixture of computers and fruit machines is a sure fire way to destroy clarity in vision.
